The Audioengines are a large step up from Logitech speakers. The z2300 bass is sloppy compared to the Audioengines. Both Audioengines have plenty of bass considering their size. The A5's can fill a large room a lot easier then then the A2's, but both are great sets of speakers. A2's are great for music. If you are playing games and watching movies, you might think they lack the rumble that comes with a sub, but that is entirely up to you. You will be happy with these speakers.

Hmm. I will get the speaker measurements and compare them to my desk. Later tonight i'll post a photo of where I'd be placing them, so you guys can chuck out any ideas on what you think would be best.

2.1s for $150 or less? Onboard sound used for gaming and a bit of music. Definitely not for an audiophile.

Picture of my desk
Click to view full size! Not a great deal of room... I doubt the A5's would fit/suit. ![]() Any sub would be under the desk.

My edifiers looks to be about the same size as your current speakers, but they might be too cheap for you - ~$135

Most people recommend the Audioengine S8 or the Wharfedale Diamond SW150. Most people also recommend spending at least twice as much on the sub than the speakers. If you really want a sub and don't have the money, I'd recommend saving up and getting either two suggested above.

okay guys. I currently have an X-Fi Xtreme Audio and the Logitech LS21's - I'm looking to upgrade the speakers to a better 2.1 set. any recommendations? trying to keep it cheap, the speakers i have were a christmas present.
The stupid little control box thing is dodgy, one speaker cuts out after plugging headphones into it when you start using the speakers again. I've also had to resolder the connections at least 4 times so i finally said f*ck this and soldered them to bottom of the board. here's what i mean: http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/x...6/DSC01036.jpg http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/x...6/DSC01037.jpg

Yea.. The A5 and SW150 pairing is awesome. Gives the sound a lower extention which is great for more bass heavy music. Been using it over a year and a half now Too bad I've moved into a small apartment with no space to put it. So it is regrettably now being sold.
