haha yeah, mine can get pretty hot too >.<.
Also occasionally get that loud CRACK sound.... which most people get on their screens as well. Sounds painful... but seems harmless haha. In response to mcrow5; have you already tried reading through these links: http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/ http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/articles/icc_profiles.htm I had a go at calibrating mine using what information I could find on these links and the image seems 'better' than out of the box settings (also the preset settings too).

Mine gets bloody hot.
There is more heat coming from my U2711 that from my 185 Opteron and hard drives. It's crazy. I don't remember monitors getting hot in the old days.

My brightness is set at 30 (contrast ~50), what about everyone else?
Mine really only gets hot if the monitor is on for a couple of hours, only really felt it steaming hot once, other times are just "medium" hot? lol.... medium hot.... (what kind of describing word is that >.>).

OK. It's setup and running.
Looks great but I do notice the 'speckled' look that's been mentioned above. It's only really noticeable on a white background. On a darker background I don't see it at all. Also just played with the brightness/contrast to see if that makes a difference but it's still noticeable unless you turn things right down, which makes whites a light grey instead. I don't do much on a light background at home so it isn't bothering me at all, though I could understand that it would be annoying to people using software that has white backgrounds like Word etc... Am now off to give it a good workout in both iRacing and BF3. Will post back my further thoughts afterwards. -ZXR

just bought my second U2711... yeah the AG coating shits me sometimes but these monitors are just too good to pass up when at $600
all you have to do it put it next to any other TN panel and bring up a good photo on both and you instantly remember why you bought it. colours are on another level, and the screen real estate is awesome. |
