Someone on Whirlpool claimed to be quoted $895 with 3 year warranty.

Anybody find a better deal ?

I hope the screen in life looks and performs better because the bezel looks like plastic :S

mine looks like machined aluminium

Well mine turned today aswell...luckily i was home for it, honestly why bother ringing me and negotiating a time for monday from 9-1pm if you weren't even planning on coming that day LOL...

Overall the screen is nice and big obviously lol, background lighting is uniform across the panel with no bleed, colour accuracy is also very good out of the box.

AG coating on the screen is pritty pathetic and very obvious on whites to greys. Compared to my 4yr old cinema display its quite dismal. Contrast is excellent however but the standard mode white balance is way to yellow for some reason. Im using game mode at the moment because it has a much better white. Anyone who says the resolution is to high for the panel is plain wrong, its a perfect size for it. Currently running it through some tests in OSX and windows.

Screen has an annoying pulsing buzz when its warmed up which will drive me farking crazy but doesn't do it on game mode? I can see these panels will be plagued with harmonic noises similar to what we have heard from mainboards and videocards when they load up. The oscillation sound will also change tones and frequency depending on the image the screen is showing...

and the weirdest thing ive ever seen? if i you open the jscreen dead pixel tester (solid black background) and expand it fullscreen on game mode the panel will start going dim?

Those sorts of noises are generally caused by the ccfl inverter, so try turning the brightness up. If the monitor is too bright at the point the noise stops, try reducing the brightness a bit in software.

i would expect the same however it changes pitch and frequency with images on the screen unless the backlight is dynamic somehow...

That's what game mode does, it adjust the brightness and contrast according to what is being displayed on the screen.

I use these settings.

Brightness 23
Contrast 50

Custom color

R 90
G 84
B 87

I also con't stand the AG coating on the screen.

Very little after calibration.

my status of the order had changed to with local courier yesterday afternoon, so was hoping today when i got home from work but not yet. would have been good too cause someone was home. if it comes tomorrow im wondering who it will be through and how i might get it if not home. might mean another weekend without it.
