And isn't as critical as it would be on a large HDTV.....that said, I'm referring to backplate rather than edge lit crap.

I'm actually glad this thing is not LED backlit.

The imacs had reports of uneven colour across the screen. Apparently it was a yellow tinge on the bottom of the screen. As white LED's go yellow when they age or get hot I imagine this problem could only get worse.

CCFLS can produce better uniformity, and the new generation can produce a better white point than white LED (not RGB LED).

The only advantage the IMAC screen would have is power usage.

Actually, i don't think it was announced at CES. It's seems thats multiple websites speculated it would be, and with the internet being the internet it was miscommunicated and blew out of proportion.

Awesome news, I guess I've lined up my next monitor hopefully I'm not downgrading picture wise from my monitor now when I eventually buy this, but reading the specs I shouldn't be.

I've spoken to a dell rep and she believed that it should be available early Feb.

was a nice review, unfortunately going on the price listed in that review its not going to be a nice price range as we thought which makes it a deal breaker for me and most other people i know. Id rather have the IMAC for a bit more and get the whole editing package, i find it much nicer on the eyes and still excellent color reproduction.
