Ive spoken to them on the phone a few times about it and have been in contact with Chris Seah (props to her) and she has been able to give me the non BS version of its coming from the factory in Asia or wherever they make the monitors.

So yeah, first time ever buying from Dell and not overly impressed.

Edit: What she did say to me is to let people know that anyone in the future does an order through Dell, put her name in the comments section and she will see what she can do about getting it to you faster.

Hi I can confirm I spoke to Scott@Dell today and the 500+ stock in Sydney went in a heart beat. In Scotts own words pasted out the PM I got from him

"We blew the inventory so i'll post in the forum in the next few days once i get visability of the air and sea shipments.

I don't think anyone could have forecast the result, whilst i was optimisitic i was still a very long way off."

They really didnt expect they would sell anywhere near what they sold, sounds like they made a crap load of sales. The reason it took a couple weeks before the deal was available from when I first spoke to Scott was he was arranging for extra stock to be moved to Sydney as he thought sales might increase slightly but no where near the extent they did.

So just to confirm those of you that are waiting stock is on its way and thats two confirmations from Scott thats the Display manager for Dell and also Chris Seah.

Whilst this doesnt make anyone feel any better about waiting at least you are not being fed BS.

That's bad luck mate, especially given that they apparently had 500 of them in Sydney.

Aokman > I tried that technique you suggested about lightly pressing the screen and it made no difference unfortunately. It seems that the plastic covering or whatever it's called is inconsistent because when I push it lightly in some areas it taps against the bezel when it pops back.

Just Ask Dell for a replacement mate. Why bother if you are covered under a premium panel warranty and you are not happy with the display ?

Scotts going to make make comment in the coming days to tell people whats happening so we might get some insight into the sales then, I am sure someone will ask him.

I heard a number of people bought 6 monitors each on WP and a large number bought up to 3 so I think the 500 would have sold just with WP and OCAU orders, put onto those sales from members of both forums that told mates, and mates told mates and then the general public I think they would have sold 4 times that.

Knew I should have asked for a free monitor....or $10 a sale

Not getting mine till at least the end of next week.

Not very happy with this, especially since others who ordered later in the weekend have already had theirs sent and received.
Bad luck Copie, I ordered mine 30 minutes right after the deal went up and expecting it to come tomorrow... if not I may just go nuts over the weekend.

Heres my old 2707WFP on the left and new U2711 on the right.

I still prefer the brushed aluminium and glass base of the 2707WFP, but really love the colour reproduction and faster response time of the U2711.

My thoughts exactly except for faster response time. Can you actually tell a difference? There isn't really a faster response time for me.

The way I can tell is how tired my eyes feel after gaming. Big difference for me.

That doesn't make sense to me :S that usually indicates refresh rates not response times.....

They are the same for me... and you can check me on TF2 servers when I play 6 hours straight... I haven't played 6 hours straight on the new screen yet but I've been burning it in all day to check to see if it gets hotter than my old one.
