I dont see this as a problem like it is in some other games, Servers dont get "full" to the point where you cant get in, you just get put into an overflow server. The game then notifies you when a space is open, and you can move or decide not to, depending on what you are doing.

This just puts you back in the queue until another spot opens up - great system.

"tracert 64.25.39.1" or "ping 64.25.39.1" for GW2 NA server ping.

Mine
Code:
Ping statistics for 64.25.39.1:
 Packets: Sent = 10, Received = 10, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
 Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
 Minimum = 213ms, Maximum = 225ms, Average = 216ms

Just me or does Optus path seem far more efficient? Also am I correct in thinking these are Eastern US servers? That sort of sucks... maybe we need to find out which (if any) of the servers are hosted on the western side.

200ms doesn't seem like anything to be concerned about
considering when I play HoN I sit at 300ms & ping is definitely vital there.

I imagine they've restricted pre-purchase to limit the number of people in the betas. Most likely as their servers (and server code) aren't running anywhere near 100%.

We have sold out of keys for digital distribution in North America. GameStop and Best Buy still have stock available.

We limit sales to ensure we have enough capacity for our customers. We're likely to have capacity available after the initial crunch at the start of the weekend. Players who purchase when we're able to resume digital sales at buy.guildwars2.com will still be able to play for the remainder of the weekend. ~RB2

Doing a quick calculation based on 10k max limit per server means bwe is limited initially to around 480k players. Just a guesstimate, but ties into their "....there will be hundreds of thousands playing" quote.

I'd say it's highly unlikely as the beta client is heavily simplified at the moment (it's just 2 files, the .exe and the .dat - plus not all content is available yet). That being said, I'm not too sure if there'll be some tool to update the client in the future (which may or may not need user account authentication) or if Anet will just release the final client separately altogether.
