Bolded for emphasis. Yes, it's very fun. The skill bar is a lot more interesting to use than any other MMO out there currently. It's not always just whack and wait for cooldown. Depending on weapon/class etc, sometimes you're also playing qte's to get special moves out and combos, finishers etc.
Storyline is sub par to SWTOR with regard to involvement in dialogue, but that's about it. You still make moral choices, choose a lifelong friend over the good of many etc. Graphics are good, underwater combat is awesome, sound effects are good, beta server infrastructure needs a little work, lag spikes and over pop, but entirely to be expected. This game, although I've been waiting for it for a long long time, still managed to blindside me with how good it actually is.

I am finding PvP very unrewarding... It takes too much to down someone and when you do it doesn't even feel satisfying.

PvP is an absolute joke, cant believe it still has the guild wars name on it. The skill system has been derped to the point of ridiculousness. They have tried to make a game that is user friendly rather than deep and interesting.

after getting unbearable lag spikes on sea of sorrows I switched to scavengers causeway. much better.
edit: also, I can see how much the game needs polishing and balancing here and there. It will just get better and better. My hat goes off to the costume designers, they look great. Finding movement and casting awkward somehow - need two more fingers grafted on my hand and to just get more comfort with controls.

It's a unique identifier for each person's ANet forum account or something
TOG US is on Embry Bay So far i'm loving the party less mechanic, and strangely the difficulty of trash mobs can be quite hard - i'm loving it. It means people rely more on team work instead of "soloing it". Some battle mechanics take getting used to but our swarm of 8 TOGs tonight ran through the newbie human area and even though we were a gang of 8x level 6-8's we managed to get through the harder level 10-12's (including a level 12 troll boss elite). Great fun for small and large groups. Quite laggy when in large groups + trash mobs. Any of your kits that require precision AOE casts can get tricky (especially grenade kits for the engineer or elemental delayed aoes) Dialogue is different to TOR. Whilst not all voiced like TOR they have added their own artistic style and cinematic flavor. It's simple and effective. Underwater combat. Holy shit its awesome. Personal preference - i dont like how big the cities are. The scale is inappropriate (to the denizens and characters) but they never get those kinds of things right in fantasy games. However, if you go to the human city, make sure you visit the royal palace and the gardens - wow that area is beautiful.

not the top one, the one actually in the list where you're friends are, it increased for a friend of mine over 2 hours or so, went from 16 to 19, wasn't their level as they were only level 9 at the time

Are servers down at the moment as can't log in?
Unable to complete operation (Code=48:1000:7006:529:101) Forums seem to be down as well as can't log into those.

I think it's the number of achievements / unique game things the character has unlocked. Not 100% on that though. Originally I though it was the zone number as it was low but it kept going up as me and my mate quested yesterday.

Yeah it is strange, I was a higher level and further along than my friend, but the number next to my name in their list was 4.

I wrote this on twitter last night, just some thought bubbles:
As much as I try I just can't *get* into GW2. It just feels a bit rough. Once it's properly out and playtime isn't smooshed, we'll see. ----- I really don't like how the hotkey system works. The combat moves too quickly for it. Also, it's really fucking hard. The game itself, as in the structure and presentation of it, are top notch. I really can't fault the design or the fundamental changes to the formula. It will do very well, especially since it doesn't have a sub. I stand by everything I said in my preview. I still really love the PVP as well. But I don't know what it is, I just can't put my finger on it - maybe I've played so many MMO's now and I'm just jaded, but I just can't get into it. It's possible that I may need to play with some friends.
