Talking Chocolate Self Saucing Pudding

Over the past month i have made this pudding probably about 10 times, its that great!

It's really easy and only takes about 15 minutes.

First your gonna need;

- A Large (4 liter) Casserole or souffle dish.
- A Small measuring bowl (at least 2 cups).
- Some Measuring cups.
- A Measuring spoon (tablespoon)
- And a silicon spatula.
then you need to gather;

- Self Raising Flour
- Salt
- White Sugar
- Cocoa Powder
- Milk
- Butter
- and vanilla essence
Start by adding all the Dry ingredient's together in the large microwave proof bowl.
Add;
1 cup of self raising flour,
A Pinch of Salt,
3 1/4 of a cup of Sugar, and
2 tablespoons of Cocoa powder.

Then add in;
60g of Butter (melted in the Microwave)
1/2 a cup of Milk
and a teaspoon of vanilla essence (I just added a cap full).

mix thoroughly but make sure not to over mix, as this makes the end result chewy. Mix until it looks kind of like this;

then, using your silicon spatula. try to smooth out the top of the Cake Mix.

Now you can start on the Sauce.

In the smaller Mixing bowl add 1 and a 1/4 cups of boiling water.

Then add 2 tablespoons of cocoa and 1/2 a cup of sugar, and using the wisk, stir until all particles have dissolved.

Grab a Spoon or something and start pouring the sauce over the spoon and onto the cake mix (this helps prevent holes in the mix).

Then shove the cake and sauce mix into the Microwave and Nuke it for 8.00 minutes (1100w microwave)

then let the waiting begin

when it beeps, take it out and poke the cake, go with the flow here, if you think its ready then leave it out to cool, if not put it back in for a minute or so. If you take it out at 8.00m then it will be more gooey, if you put it in for another minute it will be more spongy.

When you take it out for good, leave to cool for a minute or two because it will be Fu@%&ng hot!

I've had this up on here (or something very similar) previously - it's an awesome dessert, especially on cold winter nights

3 1/4 cups of sugar?? and another 1/2 cup for the sauce

The pudding I make uses 1 1/4 cups and it's really rich and chocolatey, sorry I don't mean to crap on your recipe I just think it's better to use as little sugar as possible, you could probably cut it down to 2 cups and it would still be the same.

Cooked in the microwave? Makes me think of the 5 Minute Mug Cake Wouldn't mind trying to make this, but don't have a microwave safe dish of the right shape.

Just cooked this pudding with though ran out of sugar so could only put in 1.5 in the cake and 1/2 in the sauce (i had to use caster sugar though).

Damn rich cake, cooked it longer than 8 minutes though, all up I'd say 15? Maybe shit microwave.

still a good recipe, thanks CyberBeat

Definitely too much sugar in the cake itself, my pancake recipe has much the same ingredients but only half a cup of sugar, and its still rich enough to not require toppings.

I'll try this one sometime next week, have to get ingredients and figure out oven temp/time.

Talking

Hey all,
Thanks for the responses, Its a great recipe. And yea it is a lot of sugar, but thats what makes it so good!
Experiment, Have a play with the sugar, take some out and see how it goes, Play with it. Taste it and just keep trying until its perfect.

Have Fun!

Nick

The amount of sugar is probably designed to counter the fact its cooked in the microwave.

i read it as 3/4 cups of sugar, that's all I used, and it worked fine.

http://forums.overclockers.com.au/sh...hlight=saucing

The one I put up was pretty similar and uses 2/3 cup of sugar for the pudding, 1/2 cup for the sauce, so i think 3/4 is about right. 3 and a quarter cups is a bit much...
