All that space to explore and sadly I'll never see any of it in my life time. Oh to live the Star Trek lifestyle of exploring the universe.

*sighs whistfully*

And to compliment it...

nice picture have seen a few of them before, but all together it looks really cool. I was trying to explain some of this to my fiancee so it's handy having this as a link...

Canis Majoris is the bigger one.

EDIT: Oh. I see. Seems like two separate comparison pics spliced together. Still going with Canis Majoris.

yep, Canis Majoris is bigger. The "did seeing this make you feel small" pic looks like a different set, but the picture above it shows the comparison between V Cephei and Majoris.

Amazing, simply amazing. it really shows just how insignificant we are in the universe, when you see how much bigger the sun and Jupiter is compared to earth, and than other stars. it really dose give you a sense of, shit, if we destroy the earth, we are as good as dead.

In all of that, you would have to believe with 100% certainty that some form of life exists other than on earth?

It's practically a foregone conclusion. The universe must be teeming with life, most of it unrecognizable to us. But there have to be other life forms out there which are well beyond us.

In other news, there are stars larger than our entire solar system?

Holy fucking shit. How big are some of those stars. How many of our solar systems would fit in there? Appears to be almost the size of a galaxy some of those stars.

But it's such a long walk to Perth from here. The Earth is huge! It's all relative.

The smart folks of the interwebs, planned for this, that's why IPv6 has enough addresses for everything.

We might have to start NATing planets.

i have no doubt at all, i think its pretty self centre'd to think that we are so special as to be the only life in this universe.

and i only discovered the hubble deep field images a few weeks, planning to order these in massive poster size for the room of my bedroom
