had similar issue's with a X800 long long ago, would boot into windows without drivers, but as soon as you install drivers it wouldnt boot into windows at all.

Take it back, most likely a hardware fault.

if it has virus's i'd say it was not new and would return it to the shop, to either get a replacement or get a discount as the item is used.

If the factory restore does not work then i'd return it and get a exchange. Factory restore has to always work, if not then theres something seriously wrong.

i'd claim it under warranty. your using windows default drivers, they pretty much work with everything.

do a factory restore (as far as it goes) and then send to HP.

No drivers = almost all features of the GPU are unused. If the problem is in one of those features, obviously it won't show itself when no drivers are installed.
