GT fans need to read this:

http://www.gtplanet.net/unpublished-...mage/#comments

Here is the transcript:

Quote:
Members of the press who visited Polyphony Digital last week were treated to something special: an unpublished Gran Turismo 5 trailer showcasing an apparently more impressive damage model. The news comes from Spanish site MeriStation, making them first to mention this clip. Unfortunately, cameras were carefully controlled in the screening room, so we have only this description to go by:
After the lecture, the lights went to witness in all its splendor the trailer unpublished announced that no one outside those walls had seen so far. It was a moment of excitement because, obviously, everyone wanted to see the deformation and damage.

The video begins with a street circuit and with electronic music in the background. Then we can see the cars, especially new ones at its best going around the track, the GT style of life. We see cars NASCAR, rally, Lamborghinis and Bugattis. We see the pits in full and frenetic action. The images come from the replay mode. We run at night. The modeling is clearly at the level expected. And finally we see the first deformation and cracks on cars. There are a few shouts of excitement among those present. They are short but intense second accident. A lack of a better word, awesome.

We also see a Ferrari with a big city in the background. The camera rises to give a more global perspective. The video ends. The truth is that we are left wanting more. A little short, but intense. When just the trailer, the media present burst into applause greeting. Yamauchi, amid which he said are still working on the night mode to make it as realistic as possible.
If the video is as polished as it is described, this could indicate it will be released publicly in the coming weeks and months. Needless to say, if anyone did manage to record this, please let me know…

Other than looking amazing, do they really give us any indication on what the actual GT5 will look like...

all those shots are from replay mode & the lobby (imho).
yes, they're 'in game', not exactly what it looks like when you're playing, but not that much different either.

A Model is a Model, same as GT4 on PS2 - in game was same as replay, just looks better looking because moving around etc.

i don't know if i've been playing too much burnout paradise or not, but seeing cars kiss the pavement and survive losing a hood or even worse with a bit of scratched paint reminds me a lot about ridge racer.
Yes GT5 will be 10 times graphically gorgeous which is the main reason i'm going to buy it (after trading in ridge racer 7 and assasins creed).
But that damage model will never satisfy my cravings for crash test video's of real cars in youtube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycyEc1Na8so
Yes i know its gonna be a bitch to ask mazda, toyota, ferrari, bmw, lotus, ferrari, porsche, and every other car manufacturer in the world to let video games depict gruesome scenes where their cars get wrecked till its unrecognizable, but if our consoles can do it with unlicensed cars why can't they do it with real cars?
This sort of realistic driving experience is something i'm hoping happens within this console generation, hopefully it becomes the trend when GT6 comes out.

PS: yes i know accurate damage simulation (the type done by car engineers to improve vehicle safety) is something the ps3 is incapable of, but they can always put a PSA before every game saying that the damage is exaggerated, does not reflect real car crashes and to check every cars safety rating before , ummm crashing it for realz yo

ok who's gunna pick up the Jap copy if there is a significant difference between release dates?

what do you consider significant?

What does everyone think of the importing of cars from GTPSP?

'cheating'? or just a good way to get a huge head start?

Im torn between "i love working up to the good cars" and "damn a veyron on day one would be sweeeeet"

March isnt really that far away (and there is lots to play in the mean time)

i cant see the Jap release being that much different, if it's a month earlier than the Pal release i'll pick it up and just drive, hopefully the saves would be compatible (although i doubt they will be, and that may be the killer).

please let that 2011 be a typo and not some secret inside info you have
