I don't mean to be a killjoy here for developers etc. But every single protection system has been cracked...... I am all for piracy protection but isn't it a waste of time? Unless a completely new system is made?

They are useless, but for people who still have nfi it can still be a deterrent.

Most people buy good games anyway so I doubt they have much to worry about.

So could we say that only Steam offers what the companies want?

“Our aim is to produce games that provide the best and most satisfying playing experience. Copyright protection can’t stand in the way of that. Especially since it makes life difficult for players who acquire legal game copies, that is, those to whom we owe our greatest respect. Paradoxically, those who play pirated copies usually do not face the same impediments. In our view, aggressive attempts at stopping piracy are less important than ensuring that the relation between game price, game quality, and any additional services offered in connection with a game are favorable enough to encourage players to reach for original game copies.”
- says Adam Kiciński, CEO of CD Projekt RED.

“As I see it, the best way to prevent piracy is to set the right price relative to product quality. The gog.com website is a good example – no DRM protection, yet piracy of the games sold there is marginal. Obviously, the site sells vintage titles, but its business model shows that given the right price/quality relation, selling even completely DRM-free games is possible.”
- says Marcin Iwiński.
This is why I love these guys and will continue to support them by buying their games! Fantastic!

Nope, they've developed their own engine.

Wish this game would come out now ! I'm itching for a decent RPG

Gameplay movie

Why is there a blue "X" to mash when he gets stuck :/

That's gamepad movement if I ever seen it, locking on and all. I hope it's just the PC version with it. But hey it's being optimised for gamepads so you can pretty much all but expect it now. That's probably why hes riding the tentacle too.

CDPR is using joypads on presentations because it's comfortable. It's hard to walk on the scene, talk about the game and move Geralt with mouse and keyboard in your hands.
Really considering playing Witcher again, though I rarely ever play through any game twice

I don't think I've ever been so excited about a game before...

CDPR have proven their worth as a developer with the amount of work they put into The Witcher after it was released. They seem more mature, dedicated and capable than many AAA devs out there, and they've only made one game! I'm interested to see how the gameplay mechanics work in the new engine. Can't help but be a little sceptical when they throw phrases like "more dynamic!" around...

Finished my second playthrough of TW1 the other day and have almost finished my second reading of Blood of Elves. I only wish I learned more languages so I could read all the other books
