Yep, the dual loop you're doing is pretty cool. Any pics of the finished rig?

At this stage I'll be running:

i7 920 (yet to buy)
EVGA X58 SLI LE
3x2GB Corsair GT 1600 (yet to buy)
Asus GTX285 + EK FC285 GTX Acetal (bought today, from n3wbi379)

I've just placed an order with GAM for:

EK Supreme LT Acetal
2M PrimoFlex PRO Red 1/2" ID
2M Tygon Black 1/2" ID
12x Bitspower 1/2" ID silver shining compression fittings
3x 90 degree rotary adapter
25m Black 3mm sleeving
10m Red 3mm sleeving
2x LCD temp sensors

So by mid week I should have most of the parts ready to go.

I'll be powdercoating the chassis once I'm done fabricating a few other pieces. If the budget allows I may get the outer panels painted by a professional painter, but at this stage it's up in the air.

The main hold up as far as fabrication goes is that I need access to a bender before I can do much more. I work for a high school with a decent technology dept. so I may be able to use that next week, when the school holidays are over.

Today I cut a few sections out of the motherboard tray, to allow easier access to the CPU backplate and to make cable routing a little easier.

Masked up before cutting:

The result:

The cut's aren't perfectly finished, but they won't be seen as I'm making a cover plate to hide the holes.

I may cut another small section for PCI-e cables, but I'll dummy the wiring before it goes to the powder coater to see if it's necessary. I don't want to risk the structural integrity of the case by removing too much of the tray.

Quick question, does anyone know where countersunk rivets can be bought? Bunnings etc. don't stock them.

Hey mate, if you could document and take a few pictures of what you did to prep for powder coating that would be amazing, I'm in the process of getting my own case powder coated so it'd be awesome to know exactly what needs to be done.

Will do, but it'll be at least a week before this is ready for powder coating.

GAM confirmed my order was shipped today, so I should have some work done before the weekend.

Nice as!

Great work with modding the cosmos. Good to see some other people have the similiar ideas!

Drilling out the rivets was a real pain in the ass, but well worth it. Can't wait to see some more pics

Regards,
Rob

The last batch of parts needed:

Strips of punched steel that I'll be using to make radiator brackets.

Radiator brackets just about done:

Brackets riveted into the 5.25" bays:

Removing the mesh from the plastic panels required bending back quite a few of these tabs:

The panels that will be painted, ready for sanding:

I gave the board, CPU & RAM a quick dry run to make sure there were no issues before installing the water blocks etc. It all went smoothly, no issues at all.

I'll be making the cover panels from 1.6mm aluminium sheet like this:

The sheet was covered in masking tape to prevent scratching.

This will be the cover for the cables that run to the board etc. It's of course not finished, but it should give an idea how it should look when it's done.

Some interesting stuff here. I'm liking the LED swap and the idea to cover the cables
