Default What i7 1366 mb is best for 2000mhz ram

Hey all, noob question here, but what will run 2000 MHz cl9 ram and two gtx295s? Do I need the p6t deluxe v2 or just one of the cheaper p6ts?

Is there anything special I should know before buying it, or is it as simple as plugging it in and setting freq, times and volts manually in the bios.

Many thanks in advance!!!

Since the memory controller on the i7 920 is on the CPU, the CPU will decide that more so than the mobo. You will be fine with a normal P6T.

Too true, forgot about that.

What's the max volts intel limited the ram at? Will it do 1.65v for the ram?

Intel recommend that you do not go over 1.65 but that's not entirely true. If you keep you QPI and RAM voltages within .05 of each other you can go higher and yes the P6T can go to 1.65V and beyond... Not sure of the max voltage but it's pretty ridiculous.

The DRAM bus voltage can be adjusted upwards of 2.4 volts with the over voltage jumper being changed to accommodate this.

Cheers all, so i should have no problems plugging in that ram and setting it in the bios? Should just boot at 2000 no worries? On just a p6t?

Anyone have this working? At all

I'm just cautious since my 1066 DDR 2 didn't do more than 800 on a board advertised as being able to do 1066...

AFAIK the P6T SE doesn't do SLI, and I haven't checked lately.. But I think the P6T v1 may be EOL?

EOL stands for End of Life.
I dont think its going to be a simple matter of you plugging it in and having it run stable at 2000mhz right off the bat (imo)

Was going to say this.

Looks like crossfire only. You'll have to get something like

Beats me why you'd go so cheap on a motherboard when you're running 2xgtx295 though...

mate you might need to o/c to run those timmings(or at least i have to with the w3520) not sure of the memory options on the normal i7.

You will have to OC to get those timings. I don't understand how OCing works yet for i7 but i know its different to 775

Says it supports 2000mhz RAM via OC, so you should have no problems if you set the speed and timings manually.

you have a BLK and you have a multiplier for the cpu.
you also have a divider for the ram. so you need to set a certian BLK to be able to get the 2000mhz speed and also set the timmings manually.

you could also just load the xmp profile and edit it (simpler).
i.e having a 200BLK gives you (800mhz)1600mhz with a ram divider
