Default How do we make it all work?

Having a minor meltdown with the demise of my brain..

SoundCard : Asus Xonar HDAV 1.3 Deluxe

Headphones : AKG 702

Speakers : Audioengine A5

Speakers hooked up to PC : Sound works.

No headphone jack in speakers, how can I use speakers and headphones with this soundcard?

Someone, somewhere suggested an audio splitter/switch which I know nothing of.

Help Requested !

Don't plug the 702 in speaker jacks, they'll sound cack. But you've got the wrong phone for a soundcard set up anyway; those AKGs need power. Not a built in soundcard amp, but a decent mains powered one - around about the same as the phones cost is ideal.

The 701/2 are renowned in headphone circles as pigs to drive. They are one of the few phones that don't obey the 'low impedance-easy to drive' rule.

And then after amping, the soundcard becomes your weakest link. They just aren't a plug n play sort of headphone, they need good back up gear, otherwise they'll sound meh for the money.

So either budget for decent gear to run them, or get phones that you can run off a soundcard without amping.

Ok, thanx, I already know this : amp coming soon.

Back to the issue at hand : have had them working plugged into a lappie.

Perhaps you could address the issue I have broached about how to get all components working together.
