Default Dead sony battery?

I have a sony vaio laptop, the battery in it dosnt pick up at all, the computer doesnt know its there, Is there any way to tell if its the computer or the battery with out buying a new battery? does any one arround brissy have a vaio SZ premium 13' notbook that could put my battery in to their laptop?

Any ideas would be great.

I can pretty much guarantee it's the battery.

I got a replacement from deal-extreme for ~$60, works damn awesome. Sony will tear you a new one with their price.

Thats what I think too.. Is the deal-extreme one fine? and yes Sony have quoted an opening of the ass gap...
