I guess that it's a fair and very safe bet this thread will be used often after the W-7 release tomorrow so I'm just getting in first, who knows it might be a classic thread.
There is no reason whatsoever to ever assume that any new O/S release from MS will work even partly as advertised without it's countless Install, Compatibility or Software or Hardware woes, never mind those other associated faults and hidden glitches along with the odd BSOD that were not found in pre-release testing. So who will be the first ? You certainly won't be the last ! Please queue up here in an orderly well behaved binary manner

I've found 2 problems so far:
Your profile will not load profile if: - You login the very moment the login screen appears during boot (if your account is password protected). - If you log on after a shutdown that was executed immediately after closing a remote desktop session. #2 also happened with Vista. Only way to fix either one was to relog or restart.

So far, the ONLY thing wrong is;
My TV Tuner is not always working after I put it to sleep, and then awaken it in Media Center.

The computer wakes up from sleep randomly.. and no its not the bios settings as vista doesn't wake up from its sleep a few minutes after it started sleeping.
and i've disabled my mouse and keyboards ability to wake it up from sleep mode. |

well the issue i seem to have found which is minor but non the less a pain, is the toolbars on the taskbar/startmenu bar.
After finally working out how to put a quick launch bar on there, and my other toolbars for apps and games, a reboot it works. Shut down and turn it back on and yep goes away. I placed a regkey (NoChangingWallpaper = 1) that seem to have kept it there for a short amount of time. But work up this morning turn it on an yep gone again. Maybe retail/oem may have a fix but i don't think so. Might have to wait for a update.

Two issues that I found are:
McAfee 8.7 was blocking outbound email, as it did not have wlmail.exe as an allowed email application. DIVCO TV Tuner software would not run until I put it into Vista compatability mode - since then no issues. I've been running Win 7 RTM for over 1 month now, and it seems very stable and quicker than Vista. Cheers dgwhite |

Ok for the most part the transition has been smooth
I ended up installing windows 7 on all of my pcs becuase networking was just to hard with vista to win7. Good on ya microsoft. anyway only thing i have problem with at the moment is my mrs dell machine. when windows first starts up there is no internet connection. and it detects two networks home and public. If i disable the network adaptor and then click on the cross and get windows to detect the connection problem it detects the lan card is disabled it reenables it and then only have one network and internet works fine. Why is this happening any ideas i have attached two images of before and after doing thr trick to make it work. thanks ![]()

Go into your network adapters and turn off IPv6.

unsigned drivers are my nightmare....
cant run onboard sound, digital tv tuner, networked printer, webcam, and one of my old usb disks that requires drivers. have to disable driver signing enforcement every time i boot.... big pain in the proverbial now that win7 has been officially released, manufacturers should release their digitally signed drivers for their products (they better *shakes fist at manufacturers*)
