Default Folding@Home Drive

I have been looking at the stats, and figure we need 1,500,000 PPD increase in production to take back a spot or two.

Now that I have some new hardware I'm hammering it, Just wondering what can be done to engage some more troops for High PPD output.

Sorry I havent been folding much as of late. I moved city and living in a flat with 9 other people. All of whom want the power bill as low as possible.

I am moving back to Auckland in just under 2 weeks so I am hoping to get my farm back up and running shortly after that.

A lot has changed since I have been gone, I see we have slipped an overall team spot

Howz about any of the following:

Threats, bribery, extortion, torture, kidnapping, the exchange of sexual favours?

Anything to pull up the negative slope on our trend line!

All all go for this thread,

Im only new to the OCAU Team.. new to folding in general really... but I put out about 11k PPD and am close to the 600k mark. (probs hit the 1M this year).

I really want to see OCAU climb back up to the number 2 spot at least... another 1m PPD would be good... there has to be some way we can get the word out to the OCAU Community other than this thread.

Any ideas?

For the love of folding...
Aus.

P.S. Im thinking I might take my 8800 off PhysX so I can use it to fold too.

Bringing a 2xPS3 on board, once GPU client is up I'll have a 5870 on too. Estimating total household output at 20k ppd?

Averaging about 1k ppd atm with cpu only.

If you mean PhysX in the driver control panel setting, you can leave this on and fold on your video card without dramas.

Sorry i have to ask a flat with U and 9 other people how big is the flat, i thought that flats were like 2 bedrooms 3 at the most.

Anyway back to FOLDING.

Sounds like a dodgy student sub-let death-trap-in-case-of-fire to me. (No offence intended, but if you do actually mean a _flat_ I'd like to hear otherwise).

To the OP: Folding drive? I admire your enthusiasm, but regaining second is a bit ambitious - you're talking a doubling of current production, and we're coming into summer as it is (certainly feels it here at least).
However, I did notice the drop off as soon as we got passed.

That all said I'm planning on a new box soon, and the release of new SMP / GPU clients could shake things up a bit (I know we've got alot more client variety than most of the recent upstarts. *cough* EVGA *cough* )

I'd got to about #700 in team 24, when I went from W7RC to W7HP (on my new ssd) and I haven't been able to get F@H to work since. Reinstalled it a couple of times, but get a message, something to do with "can't find cuda, app. will close" every time. Tried driver disk that came with my 9800, couldn't find it (cuda) on there either... GFX card working fine otherwise, although similar problems with EVGA precision, which I can no longer get to work.

AAh well, I guess I'll start up again, 1 x 9600m GT (Laptop so not using CPU as well), 1 x E8500 (non smp), 2 x Radeon HD4890, 1 x i7 920 (non smp).

That should get me into the top 500

Once Stanford get the proper SMP clients sorted ( i mean comon - multicore has been around for years now!) I will update the clients, not holding my breath though.

Hehe, getting a bit loud in here now Everything has spun up to full speed. Have to see if the missus notices.

Spork! try getting the latest drivers from Nvidia's site? I've had the missing cudart.dll error before as well after a reinstall of windows

go to
C:\Users\<Spork!>\AppData\Roaming\Folding@home-gpu

and make sure cudart.dll is there, if it isn't

http://www.nvidia.com/object/cuda_get.html

grab the CUDA toolkit (or just update to latest drivers) both should do the same thing and give you full cuda support and get you folding on that GPU again

Sweet, all working again now - F@H and EVGA precision.
Still in top 700 too - 696 Spork! 344838 649

ahh, the comforting sound of GFX fan...

Its just when you look at the stats, you think it should be possible.

Based on the above stats:
Active OCAU Members 12,876
Active OCAU Folders 642

PPD Output:
Users Avg Above 800 PPD - 252 Users 1982660 PPD
Users Avg Below 800 PPD - 390 Users 101270 PPD

In summary you can see out of 12,876 possible folders only 252 are really putting up points and of that 65 are carrying the team.
When you see that a cheap average card like 9600GT (less than $90) can do 3500k PPD, even if only running 1/2 the day it would deliver a needed boost.

GTS250 $120 - 6000 PPD ( 250 Folders = 1,500,000 PPD )

If you look at the Top Ten teams and their daily outputs it wont be long before OCAU is pushed much further down the ladder. Where is the OCAU Team Pride?
