Default Vista OEM upgrade to Win7

I built a PC for a friend not long ago and I orderred a copy of Vista HP with the Win 7 upgrade. Now I am trying to help them out by sorting this for them, but I didn't keep the info on how to do the upgrade, and they can't find it.

Anyone able to help me with this?

My google efforts seem to show that I need to process this request from the PC with Visa installed. Is this correct?

Cause......Another little problem I may have. I thought I would be smart, and never actually installed Vista and put the Win7 RC on their PC. If the request needs to processed on the PC with Vista I could have some problems. Maybe create a partition, install it. Order Win7 and delete partition. Seems like a lot of effort if that will be the case.

Once I get the Win7 media, I shouldn't have a problem doing the RC to HP upgrade trick?
