Try re-installing MSN, or just make a new account, save your contacts, make a new one and import the old contacts and done No need to spend hours adding each individual person

Best chance is re-installing with a problem like a virus.

look for spyware, keyloggers, viruses. these are the biggest offenders of companies hacking into accounts and sending spam & shit.

I was hit (a WLM one) because my bro installed someshit on my netbook. .... kids these days.

change the password and you're good to go. but do a thorough scan of the entire computer

Yes, the PC is dirty and you have a rogoue in there. Always have a decent AV program, not a poor-assed POS that lets too much past (AVG).

I never had any problems with AVG myself (though Im using avast now) there are a lot of other great free anti-virus programs.

NB Just because someones got his hotmail details, doesnt mean his pc is infected, though it is very possible.

Well as a person that's been in the underground community, you can never be safe. No matter what AV you use, there are tools called "crypter's which make malicious files undetectable by AV's. Either it is spyware/adware, or you have been infected by an IRC bot with a MSN spread feature. If this is the case, then changing your password, re-installing msn or making a new account won't help. If the bot herder uses the bots for DDoSing, then your credentials and personal information should be untounched although if your pc is part of a DDoS attack your internet performance will be affected. Ofcourse your credentials/personal information is still in danger. What a hacker would normally do if they are infected is too try and sniff the packets of the IRC bot communicating with the IRC channel and try and obtain the channel/botnet password and take over if the botnet isn't encrypted propley. What you can do is delete all saved Firefox/IE/Steam/Messenger password's and use a Anti-Keylogger if you like. But this is only a temporary solution, you can either scan your computer using a good AV like Avira and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and hope that the file is detected or backup your important files and format. Ofcourse this is only if you are infected with a bot.
Can you post exactly what your MSN is sending to your contact's? Thank's and i hope this was usefull.

Depending on if its rogue instant messages or emails - if its happening via MSN/Live Messenger, untick "login Automatically" and if you come back and you've been logged out (and have to manually log back in) you know its being done remotely via Messenger and not active malicious software on your comp.

Too many people fall for these "to view this content/photo/video please log-in" type phishing scams, which harvest usernames/passwords for mass-spammage.

Same kind of thing happens on Facebook all the time - someone clicks on a "dud link" which "their friend" has recommended to them, they click it, it asks them to input their Facebook username/password, they do so (since "their friend" recommended them to) then something like an "image has been deleted" type message appears, they think "oh well" then within a week their own Facebook account is spamming those same "dud links" (to an credentials harvesting site) to all their friends, without the account-holders knowing.

People who are users and beleivers in these products are never aware of what gets past until it's too late. Most know I don't have any time for these products but there is good reason for it, I see and have to fix systems daily that all share the same issues of viruses, malware and spyware and you can bet on what product is used. There are way better and more effective products out there.

Considering that whatever is messaging the OP's contacts while he is online points to being local on his system.

Sorry dude you make me laugh.

As for the Op. I thought I heard something about this on the radio. This could be linked to your problem.

I'm not laughing at your "underground" abilities mate. You would know a bucket load more than me. Its just the way you said it. Like "I'm from the underground community" so you'd better listen to me.
Never mind me, I'm not having a stab at you I just have a stupid sense of humor.
