Default Software

Hope this is the right board

Since my son was born last year, we have 1000s of photos of him spread across 3 PCs.

What I want is some software that will import the photos, show them by date and allow me to bulk rename them to something like "Jack Dec 08" and then maybe tag people in them (Pa, Nana, Dad etc)

I have Picasa and it is ok, plus our camera came with some software that can sort of do what I like - is there any others?

Almost anything (even windows explorer can sort by date photo taken, from the exif data) and then most photo programs will allow bulk renames as in Jan_001, Jan_002 etc. Personally I have in the past used Canon Zoombrowser (because it came with my camera)

what do you mean by tag people though?

what's wrong with picassa?

most people here will suggest adobe lightroom. there's a 'free' beta (available from the website).. you can try that out.

Thanks guys

Nothing wrong with Picasa - its is good but I was just wondering if there were any other options.

By tag people I meant - in Picasa you can put tags on Photos and then search by the tags - i.e. Jack with Pa, Jack with Nana etc
