Default Squeling ninvida 200 cards when folding

My gtx 280 and my mates gtx 260 (that im testing in my rig atm) both squeal like a stuck pig when folding and sometimes when dispaying 2d menus or intro's.
would it be my power supply or is this what the cards do when pushed running non 3d stuff.
When overclock the card and fold the pitch of the squeal increases, and i have knowtised that this radeon 4000 series card i have in another computer makes an odd but very faint crying sound as it folds
Any one got any explication the more complicated the better.

Yer, my GTX260's and 275 squeal too... but I'm old enough that it is above my hearing range !! Try adjusting the gpu clock either up or down to get out of your sensitive hearing range..... or just grow old like me !!!

Probably the video card, I've had squealing inductors I think on an 8800GT. This thread has mention of a motherboard problem that could help.http://forums.overclockers.com.au/sh...ng+video+cards

They all squeal when folding. I'm yet to meet a card that doesn't. There are inductors on the card that when run at constant folding load vibrate at high frequency, that's what causes the squeal. If you have open inductors (a black box on the pcb with an open side, copper coil inside) then you can drop a bit of hotglue on it and that should stop it. Otherwise you just have to learn to live with it.

The card just feels dirty because it knows what you've done

Other reason for squealing can be inadequate power supply, had a gtx 260 with disconnected power leads and could hear it from outside..
Connected the leads and quiet again.

I've never heard my gtx260OC squeal before, even though its always at full load folding away. Maybe its because the case is sound proofed, all i hear is the sound of quiet fans whirling.
