Default nvidia equivalent to 4850

Wanting to switch over from my 4850 to an Nvidia based card.

I'm thinking that a GT250 is the best choice? Or would a 9800GT match it performance wise too?

I'm not really looking to trade up so spending less is better.

The GTS250 is faster than the 4850 and the 9800GT is slower than the 4850...

They are all good cards, you could score a cheap one second hand...

8800GT factory OC.

heck, most 8800GT's hit 720Mhz/1800Mhz/1000Mhz which makes them EXTREMLY fast for their 2ndhand cost of $50 (they can outpace the old 8800Ultra at these speeds)

what youre looking for is a GTX260+ or GTX275.

you DO NOT want to buy an equivalent card, youll regret it.

The average price of them in the For Sale forum is about $70-$75. I don't know about $50.

The GT also only has 512MB. I wouldn't really recommend a card with out at least close to 1GB RAM.

Thanks for the advice guys. I don't game except for dota, so anything on par with a 4850 is overkill anyway.

i picked up my 8800gt for $50 a while ago, you just gotta know when/where/haggle.

my q9550 and e8400 also cost me 120 each

70+ is a ripoff for something as old as a 8800gt which is known to die after 3 years
