Default Why not import games...

...since Atkinson is still a ****?

He, nor anyone, can really stop us doing that, and to try would be worse than what he is doing now.

None of the games that have been banned interest me really, but I ask again, can't you just import them if you truly want them?

Would this also work for PC games that are banned and are multiplayer?

I suspect you can, technically it is against the law, but I doubt the riot squad is going to burst through your door any time soon.

If I grab it for him will he be able to play on any servers?

VPNs could potentially solve this (foreign IP locking onto foreign servers). But they cost $xxx p/month.

depends on which you subscribe to. I use alwaysvpn.com which uses a pre-paid service model, so you buy a certain amount of quota (minimum is 5gb) and you can use it as much as you want until the quota is full...I still haven't made it through my 1st 100mb of quota yet.

Most interesting. I know VPNs are 100% stealth vs HIGHLY-ILLEGAL SPY METHODS (yes, I'm looking at you USA!).

It'd be interesting to see if VPNs work for using non-Aussie servers on games that have been banned in Australia because one of man's closed-minded negative view.

Tau'va all the way!

it works fine - I'm pretty sure most of us who bought L4D2 used the VPN or the ' http://store.steampowered.com/?cc=us ' method. Now the search is on just to see how many other games are cheaper to buy this way rather than buying from the Au Steam site.

***EDIT*** my bad - just noticed this was in the Console section.. not the general gaming forum

it kills your ping - not worth it. just buy the game from the overseas Steam site then play it fine on local servers.

By "fine", I assume you mean that L4D2 would have all banned content viewable/watchable/etc?

I grabbed the us version for pc and it works fine, as long as the console release is region free then you should have no problems. Assuming it's the same as the pc release as mentioned the specials such as riot cop won't show if there's a player with the censored version, but you still have the gore.

i always though the "refused classification" just meant it Couldn't be sold in australia, and there is nothing stopping you buying foreign versions

and the buying stuff from the steam US/UK site then playing it in australia works fine, as the censored/uncensored versions have different ID's, so as long as u buy an uncensored version it will download the uncensored version

yup, buying from the US or UK steam stores won't magically turn into the shit version!

I've read on some other forums (Xbox World Australia) that several people have had their imported copies of L4D2 seized. They've been sent a letter by customs explaining that the uncensored version has been banned etc.
