usually i look for ones that advertise cosmetic and functional condition
probably why i dont get bargains
also require return policy so if its shit i might just only lose shipping...

Yeah, it was an eBay scoop off someone in Victoria that didn't know what it was. Photos show it in excellent nick in an aluminium carry case, and it's got servicing documents from 2005

Nice.. that is a good pickup.

The F3 I got was a very simple advert. The description was 'Is my dad's.. it works fine and in good condition'

Didnt even mention the 55 2.8 micro on it.. only saw that when someone asked the question of what was mounted.

Guy had no idea how much it was worth, was only concerned about getting some extra money for his father as he was a pensioner.

Buy what you know, and the simpler the item the better.
As an example I've bought three OM bodies and about 5 Olympus Trips for less than $10 on each occasion (literally 1c in one instance).
I know the common issues and problems people have with them that give the impression the camera is broken when they aren't. There is always the chance it can backfire though, that's part of the fun

Does anyone know if Myers current 40% off travel goods includes Crumpler bags? They aren't specifically listed in the exclusions list, but its a bit of a hike for me to get to the city to find out. People on the phone weren't particularly useful either.

Bought a consumer Canon DLSR on f=48s recommendation?

Found out that there were no fun lenses for it?

Is there something about a 35mm f/1.8G that makes it more fun than its Canon equivalent?

Although Canon don't make any crop-optimised primes, so I guess you've got a point...

^ Yep Canon has a massive hole in its lens line up - no well priced fast sharp wide to normal equivalent primes.

True that....really want a USM autofocus prime in the 28-35mm range to supplement my 35mm Flektogon, but none of the options are really appealing at the moment.

Unfortunately, your Nikkor has nothing on my Flektogon beyond a stop of aperture, so I'll just have to keep waiting.

Not too long I hope (via Zeiss 24mm f/1.7 for NEX).
