Thanks, I only really need it for a remote shutter release though, would you still recommend it over the one I posted?

Definately feels like a toy. I've had a 40D, 5D and now have a 5Dmk2. Saying that, holding/using a 1Dmk3 makes my 5Dmk2 feel like a toy though

I think i need to get my hands onto a xD series camera then just to see what they feel like.

or, i need to never touch a xD series so that i dont want to upgrade.

car vs camera

Yes, I use mine for that as well as for remote flash.

I never owned a low end body, went 2nd hand 30D as a beginner and I'm glad I did. 30/40D, 5d, 1D, all feel the same quality to me. 1D is a lot heavier though which could be classified as higher quality . xxxD and 1xxxD's that I've held felt very plasticky.

Apparently Aug19 was world photography day, oops missed that one. Though I'm not sure what I was supposed to do for that...

Cheers mate, shouldn't be too hard to get one from eBay when the time comes.

yep i've played with xxxd bodies, have owned a 40D & now a 5D2 & a 1D2n

even though the 1D2n is older than the 5D2 it still feels a lot better. Same going from 40D to 5D2.. 5D2 feels much better. the battery grip is more solid too

Not really, from what I can tell, the 1100D is smaller and cheaper/made of crappier material.

Sadly enough, my S95 is better built than my 550D.... and has a some features missing from the 550D (like more increments in ISO settings etc)..... sigh.

some of us are a little poor at the moment, and for quite a foreseeable future.

Does this really matter? I only use full-stop increments for my ISO.

No not particularly, I just thought it was funny.

Also, suggestions for places to shoot at the Gold Coast? (particularly around Southport/Surfers)?

You can probably* enable 1/3 stop ISO increments in the set up menu.

At the end of the day, if you can get the shot, it doesn't matter what camera you use.

* Perhaps not, but it doesn't really matter

I for one quite like the lightweight plastic construction of my 550d.
