Flash flash.

Looking forward to the pics.

Oh, so am I

I was so glad when I retrieved my portable HDD from my check-in (whoops, I forgot to take it out and keep it safe in carry-on) luggage and it worked just fine.

1900 photos, as near as makes no difference to 30GB of RAWs. They're copied on my PC, now I just have to triplicate them into LightRoom and start messing around

Yeah, K-7.

My Tamron 17-50 messed up on the last day of the trip - it won't make proper electrical contact with the camera body, so it comes up as F-- and won't AF. It works very intermittently - I guess I'll have to send it off to Maxwell for a check-up. Hope I get a sharp copy back if they have to replace it! (the problem doesn't exist when using my 50-200 or a friend's 30 1.4, so it has to be the lens)

Edit: I also now have to learn about flash photography

Can't wait to see the photos csimpson.

Noktor is one ugly lens.

It's soft too

Japan Teaser 2 - Snow Monkey

A few teasers. Already I'm wishing my 50-200 was a F2.8

Got a few other good ones of them as well

Most of my photos are just "omg holiday" ones, but there's a few relatively artistic ones as well. I'll stick 'em all up on Flickr some time.

Shot off an email this morning to Maxwell Aus about my Tamron 17-50 problem - hopefully they reply promptly.

Four days in Shiga Kogen near Nagano, with fresh powder every morning... so so soft compared to Australian ice-snow!

Got a reply from Maxwell - standard fare, I send them my lens/receipt/info, they take a look and repair it for free if it's under warranty, otherwise it's a $44 quote fee, waived if I decide to go ahead with non-warranty repairs if that's the ruling.

I remember my first impression when walking in there being that someone has put JB HiFi on a combination of steroids and acid.

So many expensive bits of equipment they let you play with though. I had a play with an 800mm F5.6L attached to a 1D of some description. So much money in my hands, those trusting Japanese

i hope you've cleaned the contacts? i was having the same problem with my 16-45 lens.. intermittent focusing. cleaned the contacts with a pencil eraser (Read it somewhere..?) and it worked again.

Yeah I've given it a fair bit of love and attention. I'll give it another go but I'm not hopeful

I absolutely loved that everything was on display... if there was a store like that in Australia I'd shop there every time without fail.

I stood around for ten minutes machine-gunning a Nikon D3s at 9FPS, played with a 600mm Canon L, a DA* 300mm F2.8 Pentax...
