Default Record streaming mov?

I need to get some vids fast off a website that stream them in *.mov through either firefox itself (which uses quicktime plugins), or you can choose open in new window, which appears to play it in windows player, but again uses a quicktime plugin (logo appears when vid starts).

Now ive searched here and found a few ideas that didnt work, but is there anyway to save these streaming movies?

Ive tried a screen capture program camtasia which the sound didnt work on (its on the laptop, so i need the sound up to record?) and is easier to use....

I cant open them with vlc and record as i have to go through a sign in procedure to view the vids through firefox first..

Quicktime right clicking and saving it only seems to save a small file (3.5kB) with the name, but wont save anything....so that dont seem to work for me either...

any help?

Is it possible to show the website it is?

The .mov files sound like they're streaming, there's plenty of ways to download them, googling comes up with quite a few results, I'm wondering if the firefox add on 'downloadhelper' can get them.

ok i installed that and if i play them through firefox it will notice that they are there...however when i click on it and select download, it just saves a small file with nothing in it...when am i supposed to click on download?? After i start it, or when its finished playing? These are 2hr streams btw....

Thought id add, but the streams dont show a buffer of whats downloaded when it plays...

If its a true quicktime stream it's pretty difficult because the content is literally streamed across to you using the mov as the pointer to the material.

pretty much. The downloader plugin doesnt work either....

Any ideas on how to take a screen recording then? Im getting a little desperate now, so just letting them play and screen capture seems easier now...
