Default Optimum Desktop Lifecycle White Papers

Hi,

I'm in the midst of building up a hardware and software plan and am in need of links to white papers that reinforce the industry standard of 3 year desktop refresh cycles. So far I have found these two but am open to any others out there:

Wipro - Using Total Cost of Ownership to Determine Optimal PC Refresh Lifecycles

Intel - Pilot Study: Optimum Refresh Cycle and Method for Desktop Outsourcing

Can anyone link to other useful study's and are there any for server hardware (or any other It products for that matter).

Intel has been releasing few white-papers on server refresh cycles lately.

Below are some links to Intel IT Professional and Open port pages which give good details on how I.T. works @ Intel, which will help you along.

Thanks, was hoping there might be more from third party analysts like Gartner or Forester. Studies from poeple who make IT equipment urging you to upgrade more frequently may be a little biased.

Also I'm only after factual information, blogs and forums aren't particular good evidence to present to board members.

Edit:
Server one is quite interesting.
