Smile Project: Killer Penguin - murderMod TJ07

Project: Killer Penguin

Almost completed pics at posts 378 and 403

Hey guys

Some of you may have seen my raven build at the end of last year which was my first water cooling build. Anyway, that build has been in pieces and partly sold off since November 09 in preperation for my new build. I have been putting off starting my worklog for some time now so I could gather my gear and put up quite a few pics. I couldnt wait any longer, so here it is!

Basically it will be a murderMod TJ07 with a 480 rad down the bottom and waterblocks on almost everything. It is called killer penguin because its mostly black and white with hints of blue and its a murderMod TJ07. Okay so here we go:

Hardware:

murderMod TJ07
Xeon W3540 Batch #3845B010
Asus Rampage II Extreme
Corsair Dominator GTs 1866 C7 3x2GB
2x Saphire HD5870
Enermax Revolution 85+ 1050w mdpc x Sleeved Black + Aqua Blue

Cooling:

TFC Xchanger 480 Radiator
2x MCP655 Pumps + EK Dual D5 Top
Iandh Stealth Tube Res + murderMod Floating Res Holders
Watercool Heatkiller 3.0 Limited Edition Nickel Plated
Mips Rampage II Extreme Chipset Block and Mosfet Blocks
Mips RAM Cooler Corsair Edition
2x Watercool Heatkiler GPU-X3 5870 Nickel Plated
2x EK 5870 Ram Backplates Nickel

big thanks to the missus for cutting all my heatshrink and labelling my 24 pin wires oh and for the penguin lighter.

also big thanks to matt (zeropluszero) for lending me his 4350 so i could test my board

Comments and criticism are appreciated.

Updates coming this week! I hope...

LOOK THROUGHOUT THE THREAD FOR FURTHER UPDATES

Been waiting to see this build, looks like you've already made some great progress. The Sleeve job looks very neat, would have been a bit easier with a Strider 1500W (Being totally modular and all).

Is that gunk from Petra good gear? Later in the week I'm trying out some Blue Primochill Dye bombs (UV Blue) that I've got here from GAM, I'm be interested to know how it compares (and before anyone says anything, colored tubing isn't at all the same ).

Good luck with the build, I'll be following this closely

BTW, you look a HELL of a lot like my brother in that picture, weird

thanks man yeah i was thinking about getting a silverstone but ive read too many horror stories about them blowing up and killing guys entire rigs. about 1/4 of the way through my sleeving, i was like argghhh i should have got a fully modular psu!

i havent actually tried it yet but ive heard good things and I wanted to give it a shot, seeing as I will be having a tube res in this build, it will be nice to have some colour in it.

thanks matt yeah ive been thinking about doing yours, the task is just so daunting though, i need some time to recover from mine hehe.

i would have to rate sleeving the modular cables (sata + molex) harder than sleeving the 24pin+8 pin and pci-e cables.

probably wouldnt need sata power done just yet, i'm still not sure where all my hard drives will be, and theres going to be 4-5 hard drives in my build by the end of it.
got my intel SSD coming very shortly.

yeah im hoping to only have 3 hdds (2 ssds and 1tb wd black) plus optical drive, as i have my file server for storage. so i'll probabaly need to do 2 sata cables depending on where they are placed. for the molex i just used the bigger sleeving and sleeved the cables all togther. if i had a hx-1000 i probabaly would have just left them but bare yellow cables just look plain ugly.

easier for me to have all my hard drives in the one computer.
i sleeved a molex and a sata power, but only using the pci shrink and left bare wires, i figure i'll hide the molex somewhere out of sight.
