Default Do i format my new ssd??

Hi,

I will try to keep it short and simple.I just ordered a Intel X25-M 160GB 34nm MLC G2 SSD, do i need to format it before installing it? I read somewhere that some ssd your not supposed to format it??

Unless your cloning a drive onto it either way you will need to format it, otherwise it will be unusable.

Just needs a quick format, not a full format. I suspect that's what you're referring too. A lot of people prefer to do a full format on new hdd's. Won't need to do that on an SSD.

Didn't format mine.
Plugged it in and installed windows on it the 1st time I powered it up. Works fine...

What do you suppose windows install does to it? Until a drive is formatted it cannot hold data (simplistically).
