I get no sound and alt-tab no worky...

No, because you could only grapple at certain predefined locations (e.g. vehicles), rather than anything in the environment. The parachute was kinda floaty too, didn't really do much. It's completely different, and better.

Another thing, this game scales quite well. I can play this on a 9600M GS (laptop GPU) at 1280x720 just fine, wouldn't go much higher though.

The modding scene is picking up for this game too: http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/2...0031408244.png (link for size reasons, not my image)
Multi-hooks ftw!

Are you using one of Gibbed's mods? Just suicide somehow (suggested method: crash helicopter into ground or something), and respawn should restore sound. As for alt-tab, I don't know, I normally play windowed.

Wow I just proved to myself how far behind currnt gen consoles are. I'm a console man, love sitting on my bean bag with a control and gaming in relax mode. But I also love my PC for gaming, I just don't like sitting at a desk and it feeling like I'm at work.
I've downloaded the demo of this for PC and xbox 360.... God the PC verson looks unreal, I've got everything nearly maxed out on PC. Played the PC version first than the 360... 360 has very low textures and very noticable jaggies.
THe 360 version does feel a little smoother in the sense of controling the character... feel like i have more control when freefallling/driving/flying with a controller.
Will still prob get it on 360 tho...

Get a wired 360 controller if you don't already have one. I've been using it for a lot of titles lately, including this and I think its damn near perfect.

For those who are playing the PC version, and want multiple grapple hooks and stronger grapples

Just like the first game... TERRIBLE!

But it does not stop it from being so damn FUN

Graphics are inconsistent, beautiful open mountains looks great in the distance and horrible up close, same goes for every other model, texture and effect.

Gameplay is clunky, especially the new grapple mechanic, on foot controls and gunplay are the same as before, lame.

But the vehicles, especially the cars and the plane are just soo much fun.

The game has so many epic moments, especially with the limits taken off the demo.

Based on the demo i give this game 4 out of 5 Overclocks.

+Truely open missions and gameplay
-Graphics, up close, far away quite nice

What you've said pretty much sums it up, but I'm still tempted to buy it ... I reckon it's worth ~$55 AU on Steam ... Fun game. A bit more guidance on completing missions would be nice instead of wasting time looking for shit, but it's still lots of fun and looks the goods.

Gibbed's been at it again:

Source package: http://mod.gib.me/justcause2/gibbed_...lo_santosi.zip

Oh, and the latest patch for the demo includes a benchmark for all those interested.

I've already pre-ordered. Now why can't Steam just release the game at the same time all around the world, instead of privileging North America?

Are you kidding? It takes at least three days for the pigeons to get here

You can pre-load it by running steam://install/8190 in a browser. It doesn't show as pre-loading for some reason but it is. 4.79g

Yeah, already did that. Those pigeons are far too slow, why can't they be equipped with grappling hooks and parachutes
