I'm all out of design ideas :T

This is a website I'm putting together for the uni dance club. Yes, it's incomplete so please ignore things like the photographers logo being missing and some dead links for now - just look at the front page and I'll get to the others later

Felt like showing off little tricks like font replacement and CSS sprites, but really, the design doesn't feel like anything special. The club has existed for a year, they're real young so don't have too much in the way of high res photos of their events, dancers etc. So right now I'm not sure what I should do to make the design really stand out as something professional looking.

Anyone have any ideas?

the font size of the post's titles should be bigger....

Hey looking good. but...

The text looks cluttered just a bit of spacing would help tremendously.

The Gallery should have thumb nail previews.

White text on a light pink background? Not a good idea. As for everything else, the whole site seems to be weighted a little inappropriately. The text for your news posts also looks a little uninteresting and bland to read, I think you need to apply some better styles overall.

I agree, will style in a sec. And yeah, tis a fun club hahahaha

Thanks! Yes, Tahoma is really not great for body text is it :T Will change in a sec, probably just ole Arial.

And yes, the Gallery does need thumbnails. I'll have to find something better to make galleries with - sadly, the webhost provided is nothing special, I can't put any kind of CMS up :T

Good idea, background on the navigation has been darkened a bit :] And yes, there is something wrong over all, but I can't really pick it, that's why I'm here :]

exactly though the stripes would go well too!

the edges of the photos are off-putting: try and fade the edges so they don't look as strong. if you got photoshop use the layer mask with the gradient tool.

The photos sure are a bit weird looking hey...will clean up in a bit.

Gave it a try...the texture is a bit messy but I do like the darker background...I'm gunna try whipping up something neater, BBL :]

Other than that, the navigation highlight is 1-2 pixels out. I don't know, it looks messy to me. I'd either make it closer to 5 pixels, or make it line up perfectly. Right now it just seems like someone screwed up somewhere.

Bring the pink background down to below the pictures, and give the pictures some spacing. Maybe say... 5-10 pixels between them and each other and the edges.

the new background is better: it contrasts between it and your text as well as make your info take notice!

Tweaked the line-height slightly - I'm now concerned about the length of the lines/width of text area, it's a little too long, I'll make the space smaller in a bit.

And gah you're right about the navigation!! Yes, it's exactly 2 pixels up. I'll try fixing it later. :T What do you mean by all that though? Like, turn the moving pink background into a moving pink underline?

Basically, I think that the moving pink background would look better if it was actually a tab for something, rather than just a floating background.
