Default Webcomic navigation - need ideas

I'm working on a Web comic for a friend, and cobbled together this mockup in Wordpress: http://www.skeletonman.net/ - so far so good (this is purely a layout concept mind you. The design is, shall we say, nonexistent).

Where I'm stuck is trying to figure out the navigation. My friend's ideal would be to have thumbnails showing the other comics, but I can't begin to fathom how that would work as a navigation system. Most Webcomics I know just show one, and have forward/back buttons.

Can you suggest a good thumbnail-driven navigation system, or point me in the direction of a Web comic that you like which uses one?
