Hardware Review / Cooler Master CM-Storm Sentinel Gaming Mouse
Well it seems Cooler Master has included something new in their lineup, their very first gaming mouse the CM-Storm Sentinel twin laser gaming mouse. After a quick inspection I found a nice looking gaming mouse sleek in design and incorporating all the expected features of a modern gaming mouse. Including -5600 DPI Twin-laser Sensor -64KB Sentinel X Memory -Rapid Fire Tactical Mode -8 Programmable Buttons -5 Profile options - Led DPI Management System -Led Clan Logo Personalization -1000Hz Polling / 1ms Response Time -Max Speed - 235 Inches Per Second - Lift off Distance 1mm -Right hand Ergonomic Design -Gold-plated Full-Speed USB Connector -Adjustable Weight System 5 x 4.5g So lets take a look ![]() The packaging had a good amount of product info and would handle shipping with no problems. ![]() Test System Pimped PC extreme system System Specs: Motherboard : Asus P6T Cpu : Intel i7 920 Ram : 6 GIG Cossiar DDR3 1600Mhz Power supply : 850 watt Graphics : 2 x GTX260 in sli HDD : Western Digital 150 gig Raptor drive Monitor: 28" Viewsonic 3ms 1920 x 1200 HD Mouse: Cooler Master Storm Sentinel Keyboard: Razor Tarantula Sound : Creative Xfi Fatality Headphones : Medusa 5.1 Speedlink ![]() CM STORM Software & lighting system control I found the software package delivered some very usefull features including lightning system control enabling fully customizable colour profile's. Fully programmable hot key and macro functions for 8 keys comes in very handy for gaming and shifting profiles mid game meant air, vehicle or on foot I had my perfect settings. An extra bonus was the feature to be able to upload your own clan logo onto the OLED screen VERY COOL !! ![]() ![]() ![]() Specifications Mode - SGM-6000-KLLW1-GP Available Colors - Black Material / Rubber Grip / ABS Plastic / Mesh Bezel / Metal Plate Dimensions Width / 3.3 X Height / 5.3 X Depth / 1.6 inch Width / 83.5 X Height / 135 X Depth / 40 mm Weight / 161.5 g / 0.356 lb Sensor / 5600 DPI Storm Tactical Twin-laser Sensor X&Y Axis Configuration - Independent and programmable Maximum Tracking Speed / 235 IPS Maximum Acceleration / 50g Polling Time / 1.0ms Dynamic Surface Adaptation - Tracks on most surfaces, 1mm lift-off distance On-board Memory / 64Kb Form Factor / Right Hand Ergonomic Button Assignment / 8 Lighting / Soft wear controlled lighting-7 colors with variable lighting effects DPI Display / OLED Weight System / 4.5g X 5 pieces * More information see http://www.cmstorm.com CONCLUSIONS The Cooler Master Storm proved to be a good gaming mouse it took very little getting used to and felt good to use in no time, Its ability to track and target enemies was very good and the weight system worked well which allowed me to set the weight lighter more in line with the Razor mouse I currently use ,the softwear package was bigger than expected but proved to be easy to navigate and allowed for plenty of personal settings and profile options , this combined with 64kb of memory allowing you to take your mouse with all the personal profiles and settings on the road. I was initially a bit skeptical of this mouse purely because of the price i did not expect much for $75.00AUD but i was actually amazed so if you are in the market for a gaming mouse i would be giving this mouse some serious consideration as it easily performed up there with the big boys but at a very reasonable price. Pros : -good tracking -8 key function -5 profile options -64kb memory -Fully customizable via software package -adjust DPI on the fly -braided cable -Great looks and lighting -Price Cons : -Mouse wheel hard to push down -side buttons small and a little stiff -May prove a little to big for gamers with smaller hands Cooler Master Storm Sentinel Gaming Mouse Reviewed by : Savy www.pimpedpc.com.au Last edited by savy; 17th March 2010 at 6:26 PM. |

Nice review, and congrats on front page!
Tell us about the oled screen and how you can put a logo on it. =)

As a proud owner, I agree that it's a great mouse!
It's just a little one that shows the logo and the X and Y DPI (as they can be changed independently). You can upload a simple image to the mouse through the provided software.

I bought this mouse a few months back for $70, i was gonna do a review but never bothered, though it would have probably been a video / pic review.
i was gonna include a review of the custom mouse scripting and stuff as i basically scripted it to mouse click every 12ms and then went on cod4 and destroyed everything with a semi auto gun lol (was at a lan so even funnier). good mouse though, iv had no real issues, only con i can think of is that i "think" my pinky and the finger next to it feels more squashed on this mouse. not sure if its always been like that but i noticed it with the mouse, but no real big deal.

Hmm, re-skinned and re-badged Logitech G9 / Alienware TactX mouse, eh?
A little too flashy - I don't want the mouse to be glowing and lighting the whole room up! And I agree - the mouse-wheel is a bitch to click down, my only complaint with the overall design. |
