Default Buying Games Through Ebay

Is there anything i should know before purchasing some games from here.

http://stores.shop.ebay.com.au/Aussi...__W0QQ_armrsZ1

It looks legit and all and prices seem to be close to 40% cheaper then retail at EB games.

But last thing i wanna do is get scammed some how.

They may not be Australian copies. Games are often a fair bit cheaper overseas.

The only thing you should be concerned about is that the seller is reliable (power sellers are usually ok) and that the game you purchase is PAL / suitable for your console.

Also read up on Grey Market.

Computer Games

Purchasing some games from online content distribution systems, such as Valve's Steam, simply requires entering a valid CD key to associate with an account. In 2007, after the release of The Orange Box, Valve deactivated accounts with CD keys that were purchased outside of the consumer's territory in order to maintain the integrity of region-specific licensing. This generated complaints from North American customers who had circumvented their Steam end-user license agreement by purchasing The Orange Box through cheaper, Asian retailers.[3][4]
Not really sure if Xbox Live cares as long as it's not Black Market games.

Ok it seems the games are NTSC and not PAL. so that would explain why they are cheaper.

How will this difference affect me?

I think we can assume he isn't using a 10 year old CRT.

Pal and NTSC mean nothing on a digital TV, provided the game isn't region locked you won't notice any difference what so ever. At most you'll get an option for another language in game as well as a dual language manual and box art.

Anything I buy near release is normally an international copy, 95% of current games aren't region locked either.

Agreed.

I've bought from overseas for a number of Xbox 360 games and I've had great success each time.

I bought 'Rock Band 2' when it was released in the UK for PAL for ~$100 delivered, and more recently I bought 'Forza 3' two weeks after Aus release for ~$50 delivered from the UK.

Furthermore, I often find if you want a month or two after release here in Aus, you can typically find the game on ebay from a UK vendor <$50, even sometimes as low as ~$30 AUD inc postage.

We still have two 18 year old Sony 40" Trinitron CRT televisions in perfect working order sitting in the lounge. Quality craftsmenship made in Sony Japan TV's just refuse to die. We've had two digital TV's cark it at work after 2 years.

But yeah, PAL/NTSC just depends on your TV and console compatibility.

I recently bought an Xbox 360 game through enbstore on eBay, who are in Brisbane as well. PAL copy, brand new in plastic, everything was perfect, just as you would have bought in store and at about 30-50% off the cheapest retail price I could find. Played it on Live and worked perfectly. Fast delivery too! So might be worthwhile having a look there.

I get xbox 360 games on ebay from Dungeon Crawl

http://stores.shop.ebay.com.au/Dunge...__W0QQ_armrsZ1

They have a shopfront in Melbourne (though, its cheaper to buy through eBay) and their warehouse is in Melb. I've always had my games delivered the next business day after paying.
