Default Upgrade from GTX295

I have started to read up on the newer vid cards. So much info...

Bottom line: Is there a worthy upgrade path from a GTX 295 atm or will the new 490(?) be the only real upgrade?

Thanks...

Strange...

I dont even want to upgrade from my now slow gtx285.

I suggest you stick with your card till the fermi singles are released.

There has not even been rumors of a Dual GPU Fermi card, i suggest if you need that kind of power to go SLi.

But once again i must say that i do not advise or you to upgrade your card.

Question - is there any game that you have poor performance in?

If not why the heck bother, wait 6-8 months until DX11 means something and pick up whatever tickles your fancy then.

Agree with the above posters completely, its a great card with great support with drivers.

The only card that would be better than it currently is the HD5970 and @ $900 its just not worth it. Also consider that you could only sell your card for $400 or so making it a $500 upgrade for maybe 1.25x the performance.

wait till DX11 becomes more mainstream at which point new cards will be able to significantly outperform current gen cards for high quality gaming.

Hmm would go ATI from the reviews ive read or wait for the next gen or fixed femi to come out. I personaly think nvidia are pushing the limits in power and heat and can see some cards failing quickly with the 470/480. The 490 has no set date so you could be waiting quite sometime, but also it does give them time to refine femi as well which could be a win. Anyhow as ya can see from my opion its a gamble that has bad odds but hey if your loaded you can afford to take it

Perhaps look at a Vantage score or more reliable benchmark than Unigine as those scores aren't great for quad. Maybe run Farcry 2 or Crysis benchie.

I only ask as my Palit 295 went bang but still under waranty. Hope it arrives back next week. Thiught I would have a better chance of selling it new rather than second hand.
I would consider a second hand one to go Quad if the price was right. Still sellign 600+ new.

Thanks...

You won't get more then 350-400 here tho regardless of age, bad for you to sell, but good for you to buy another if you go quad sli
