Here you go, affinity on core 0,1,2. All 3 cores running at 3.985Ghz on stock volts 1.45v which kicks in due to only utilizing 3 cores.

Pushing forward. SuperPI @ TURBO 4160Mhz stock cooler/volts. Not sure if those speed times are correct.

some Aftermarket AIR to complement stock cooler results from buzz.

Noctua U12P

This is as high as I'd like to go running prime.. only a quick run. fear the saftey of my little 770-T. Power consumption 6 cores priming is pretty high for cheap mobo's with not so good VRM cooling, but not too high for the old Noctua to handle.

just shy of 4ghz, quick prime run. My freezing issues re-appeared at 4.05 or so Ghz at this voltage (1.42v)

and a couple of benches.. with RAM at a crappy 1170Mhz. I'm going to put my Gskill in out of this machine instead

Can you actually disable the turbo feature?

yep, so I disabled Turbo (as it won't be stable at 4.5 3 core :P)

in the gigabyte BIOS, the option to disable is in 'advanced BIOS settings'. "AMD Core enhance" , something like that anyway, doesn't say the word 'turbo'

Sweet thanks, I saw that option & wasn't sure what it was for. It's difficult to decide weather to have the turbo on or off for gaming These new cpu's throw a couple more variables into the pot when overclocking. I'm slowing starting to like this feature. Wasn't really sure about it before, but now that I understand it a bit better & it's growing on me

Decisions decisions lol...

what would be awesome is to be able to customise the turbo feature..

i.e set the max 3-core vid offset to something smaller so that at 1.4v 6-core VID, the turbo vid is say 1.475 or 1.5 , then, have a 200mhz bump in turbo mode..

this would mean @ 4Ghz 6 core you could leave turbo on, and have it would bump up to 4.2ghz below 3 cores active..

Awesome for the updates!

It will do very well against the i5 750, but the 860 (because it has HT) will put up more of a fight.

Can't wait to see the reviews

Your stock wPrime score is similar to my 860 with HT enabled. Turn HT off and the X6 is way in front.

Need help quickly here. I have a bit of anti climax.

I just put everything together using the new GA890XA, I got one beep, then the screen hangs at the Gigabyte title screen.

Could it be the wrong bios version? If it is how can I update it without being able to get into the bios itself?

Finally.. some decent RAM, and we're in business..

Some more results..

at 4.05Ghz 1.45v
CPU-NB @ 2.9Ghz (Nb clocking is good!)
DDR3-1512 8-8-8-20 1T

Cinebench R10
Cinebench R11
Pov RAy beta 3.7
OLD VERSION of x264 bench
Wprime 1.55

and lastly, BFBC2 cpu usage.

Have to wait till tonight for comparisons to quad. I can't turn this one into a quad, the bios bugs out and keeps it in low power state if I do, so i'll have to compare with a real 965, at around 3.9ghz since it doens't clock as high.

looks like it spawns 6 threads, but doesn't use the last one much.. get around 80% total usage on a quad.

Your going to need to checkout the Gigabyte website & see if the bios supports it. If not, you'll need another AM2+ cpu to update the bios. My Giga wouldn't even boot until I updated the bios.

Guys, I like the two different ways you guys have clocked your cpus, how many things are going to use more than three cores? If lots do then it might be better to go a full 6 core clock like majords, this has always been the traditional way so it makes more sense but c-buzz's method is still interesting and Im sure they will be fast either way. Bring on the Vantage cpus scores, that might be interesting and I cant wait to see what these clock to maxed out.
