So does the 1055T have a locked multiplier? does anyone know if you can disable turbo and use the multiplier to increase cpu speed?

I thought this could be done with the 890 chipsets, i have read alot of reviews and it seems like its locked . Can anyone explain? i know how turbo works, but does anyone know if there is any chance of there being a BE batch of these cpu's? i read on Xs.org that amd might come out with a BE batch, I thought the current 1055T's are BE's.

The 1090T is a BE chip, available from tomorrow.

So what your saying is, if you disable turbo, you can use the multiplier to overclock the cpu?

Anyone able to answer my question earlier posted here?

I'm still amazed at the temps. So this is a 6 core chip that is apparently 125W TDP at what, 3.0GHz+ (for an AMD)??

To answer your question, yes it is possible to stay under 50c at full load, depends entirely on what cooler your using.

*gobsmacked*

Really surprised AMD (which always fairly hot) have managed to put 6 cores 3.0GHz+ with the same TPD as my 2.6GHz quad.

Hey can we have more pictures of the stock cooler? Has it been "beefed" up? I'm pretty keen on this because my board has support for AM3 but, I'm not sure if it will support 6 core, but it does support 140W TDP processors.

PSU paranoia strikes again. There is no way you need that much power unless you're running an overclocked CPU with a CF/SLI setup. It would be much better to get a reputable brand with a moderate amount of power, than to get a cheap brand with ridiculous amounts of overhead.

It's the same cooler that comes with the X4 965.

Keep in mind it's 2 generations forward. And it's the clocks, rather than the cores that seem to mean the most heat.

Yeah, as Domokun said, it's the 965 cooler. Same as the rest of the AM3 coolers, but with a slightly wider sink and four heat pipes. Does okay at keeping cool, but it's noisy.
Most boards should be getting BIOS updates for the 6 core chips. Check your manufacturer's page to see.

actually the same generation as his chip (K10)

it's the process that's allowed this, not the architecture

Default Black edition

Black editions in the pipeline ..

Is some guy in Norway already selling black editions !
FROM HwBOT.org
Well, rest assured someone made a black-list at AMD, damn that's bold. A Norwegian retailer started shipping Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition processors to customers. And that's a big no-no as the processor is to be launched next week (we know as we have them). The retailer is known as Amentio.no

Why would you buy a locked CPU ?
