Default Slipstreaming Service Packs

Is it possible to slipstream directly to windows 2k sp3, or do I have to go through sp1 and 2 first?

You can actually make a Windows 2000 CD with SP3 already integrated into the CD's I386 folder.

Check it out:

I have reciently made this cd. My advice is *double check your cd burning settings* else you'll wind up with a non bootable disc like me

For some reason my disc has version numbers after file names although I explicitly told it not to.

To be honest. Is it really THAT difficult to apply the bloody SP after clean install...

The time you waste to make this so called slipstreamed CD you have already applied the packs 5-6 times....

To get it to a machine you're more then likely going to have to burn it to cd anyway.. why not slipstream it and save yourself the hassle.. also you can slipstream more then just service packs.. its more useful on a larger scale..

lol dont you already have the original CD for the installation?

Applying SP is really easy shit to be honest. Click a few next and ok and you are done....

Worst if you fucked up making the slipstreamed cd half way you end up with a fucked installation.

PS: Sorry Cuz i was used to networked installation of SP. I usually get the network working before applying SP.

Hi,

I hate to hijack the thread... but I thought it pointless to create a new thread with the same basic topic.

Now I have no problem slipstreaming SP2 or SP3 to my Win2kPro.... and I even have my winnt.sif file set up well to automatically install everything...

BUT my problem is I can't get it bootable (without emulation). Emulation is fine, but it defeats the purpose of autoinstallation, and it is slower.

I've followed several guides to the tee and not one success, I must have done it around 20 times now I think.

This is the one that seems to be most common, but doesn't work at all for me.
http://www.bink.nu/Bootcd/
And I have tried others...

I'm using NERO 5.5.9.0 and a LiteOn 40125S on WinXP Pro.
For some reason any version of CDRWin (another popular choice) refuses to work on my computer..... and alot of bootimage tools complain about the lack of my ASPI drivers/managers.

So anyone... help me please????

Cheers
Silver

Sure, I had the same problem. What error do you get when the cd doesnt boot?

I followed the guide exactally.. but on checking the cd with a disc analyser tool.. I found that nero actually put the ;1 version numbers on the files.. despite me turning the option off.. check nero hasnt done that to you.

Well, I slipstreamed SP3 on last week, and actually got around to testing it last night. Everything runs fine, no version numbers and no problems with booting from the cd. I used a link off windowsxp.nu with the guide to creating a bootable cd, and it worked perfectly.

The is the error I get:
Initialising Boot CD-ROM CD-224E

and what analyser tool should I use to check that?? I gather you can't see the extension normally through windows?

Cheers

I used cdr-diagnostic from http://www.cdrom-prod.com

It was an older version, Im not sure of the functionality of newer ones. It shouldnt be hard to find a similar program though

OK, might be a silly question, but I've downloaded CD-R Diagnostic and scanned the CD... all files are retrievable message, and looking at the file names, there is nothing about the ;1 version numbers on there.

What exactly am I looking for?

Cheers,
Silver
