I'm interested in getting a HTC Legend from Vodafone but only want the phone if I can root it. So I am interested to hear if people who have only just recently bought the Legend from Vodafone, most likely running Android 2.1 have been able to successfully root the phone?

Could people also tell me what bootloader version these phones currently have? If you don't know how to check your bootloader version do the following - Turn off your device, then turn it back on while holding the back key. On your screen, the second line in green text you will see HBOOT and a number
Cheers Benny

Here some chatter about the Desire>Legend.. however the Desire seems to have some issues with the camera and also battery management. I also prefer the aesthetics of the Legend over the Desire- however it is a nice phone.

i wondered about lag too so i did me a little experiment.

i heaped some apps on my legend to see how far i could weigh it down.

now obviously, this experiement will only be relevant to me, seeing as i had X amount of apps running, loaded, installed, and my home screens configured in such a way. i didnt have any noticeable slowdown until i got to ~50mb available memory. i was pretty happy with that

Seriously contemplating this phone. I'm a techhead, but even my mother is saying "Usually you're so on the ball on the tech stuff, but your phone is so OLD" (Sister has a 3G iPhone, Mum has N97 Mini... I have a Nokia 6300 ;_; ) edit: turns out my 84 year old GRANDFATHER has one of these. He's so awesome.

Main reason for going HTC is that I can get it on a plan, which will fix the billing issues I've been having with prepaid (been a prepaid customer for a decade, it was fine when I was younger, but I can't justify $10 spend one month and $50 the next, when I can just pay a set cost. Also, phone upgrades!)

Probably just go with the $49/m, as it includes the dataupgrade and phone repayments. Was nearly spending that much on prepaid recharges, so it makes sense.

update: Cases! Ah fufufufufu I don't want it to get scratched up.. must investigate.

i wouldve gone with the desire on the telstra $49 cap personally...but well done nonetheless

after moving from the 4.3" HD2 to the 3.7" desire and soon over to a 4" galaxy S...a 3.2" display just doesnt cut it.

Telstra doesn't do it for me. And I prefer the slimmer screen. If I wanted more inches, I'd get an iPad

(I came from a 2" screen, this screen is bliss.)

I saw a guy the other day trying to use the iPad as a GPS around the CBD. The guy couldn't see where he was going because the iPad was blocking most of his vision.

For ever and ever, but I already ordered the Zagg invisigard this morning. $13 paypal (had some leftover money in there anyway, so it's like it's free!)
