Took forever to ship though.

Ordered 13th, shipped "18th", arrived today (5th)

picked one up on the weekend. i don't know shit about phones so i relied totally on how much i liked it in the shop and took a punt.

i compared the galaxy s (out of stock anyway), the legend and the samsung wave. the wave was ok but not great, the galaxy and legend were identical in usability, speed, features and style but the legend won out due to price, being in stock and physical size (i carry 2 phones so size is a concern for me).

so far so good, i like it. bought a cover and screen protector from ebay this morning so that should protect it from the keys in my pocket and such.

not bad for a 10min play in the shop and taking a punt

the legend is a good phone, but overpriced.

the galaxy S includes a 1ghz hummingbird processor and a 4" 800x480 display over the legend's 528mhz processor and 320x480 display. it's available pretty widely on $49 caps from most major providers.

the legend is on the $49 cap from vodafone, where it really should be on the $29 cap.

have you loaded it up to a point where you noticed the cpu/ram was insufficient? just wondering what sort of hammering these can take before you really wanted the 1ghz galaxy.

point taken about price, but it doesn't cost me any more to get it on my price point so i wasn't complaining

never been able to really hit the CPU with anything, hardest task i get it to do is play divX videos when at the gym, which it manages easily.

the screen size is the big one though - a 3.2" HVGA screen is so supremely inferior to a 4" WVGA oen that its not funny.

wow
just to confirm, your fone is a htc legend?

i bought a 3pack of chargers off ebay, it had 2 datacable, ac charger, and car charger. the extra datacable was a freebie, that they mispacked?

ok straight off the batt, ac charger didnt charge.
then within two weeks, the car charger and a datacable stopped charging

externally they look fine, so it must be a loose wire/ solder bodgy job.

and the final datacable is still all well and good.
im in need of new cables!

give us more scoop lol

I only got generic microusb cables, and they worked fine. Most of the image my phone is plugged into my work or home computer, or on the original HTC charger in the bedroom, so I don't need a car charger.

I don't know if yours were a dodgy 'WORKS WITH HTC EVERYTHING LONG LIST HERE' thing, but just generic microusb cables worked for me.

Apologies for the doublepost+bump, but I wanted to give my 2c

I got a Zagg invisi protector thing, and it's crap.

The corners of it, especially the top screen corner, keeps peeling up, it's covered in pant fluff now, and it gets stuck to things (the underside). The back is fine, because the edges/corners aren't giving way, it's just the left side of the screen cover and the optical button cover.

I've chopped the corner off to try and keep it flat, but it keeps pealing up. Not sure if that's me trying to throw it in my pant pocket too hard, or something, but it's pretty shit. I don't mind taking it off the backing and such, with the brushed steel, but the screen protector should protect the screen, and without it, it'll just get smudged up :<

I got the zagg protector on my ipod, its great material but like you said, it isnt as robust as they make it out to be, my corners are peeling off and full of pant fluff as well.

Apologies for the bump...

I'm looking to pick one of these up now that it's on Vodafone's $29 cap. Been tossing up between it and LG's Optimus One. Does anyone know if VF will be pushing through the Froyo update for the Legend? It's the only thing holding me back atm. The LG comes with 2.2 installed.

LG is also confirmed to be getting 2.3 (Gingerbread) http://ausdroid.net/2010/12/13/lg-co...g-optimus-one/

Pretty sure froyo will be going to all versions of legend. It's already out for vodaphone UK. I am waiting for a decent unbranded rom or my official virgin canada rom(due Jan 2011)

Yeah did some reading on the ausdroid site that indicated the froyo update should be available within the next couple weeks.

I just ordered one of these. Would love an iphone or a galaxy s but just cant justify the cost. got it free on 29 cap plus 100 credit plus waived the remainder of my previous contract. had about 2 to 3 months left. looking forward to using the jogging and golf gps apps the most as well as browsing the web on wifi on what looks to be a decent screen. Would love to hear what is everyones favourite apps are as i really dont know where to start.

Anyone else noticed any occasional lag when texting? I use predictive text with the keypad style, not qwerty and occasionally it skips a beat. I've also noticed it with predictive text off so it doesn't seem to be the predictive text engine causing it. Maybe 4 keypresses a second is the speed of my typing...

Running Android 2.1 update 1.

Although I'm looking around for any speed improvements that can be had... just seems a little sluggish sometimes.
