Lightbulb Official: Microsoft's Project Natal, Named Kinect (Out Now!)

*New Xbox 360 design discussion can be found here: http://forums.overclockers.com.au/sh...d.php?t=880686

Microsoft Kinect official website: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/kinect

Quote:
Microsoft has nailed down November 4 as the release date for the Kinect control system, with 15 titles available at launch.

The date was nailed down at the Microsoft E3 2010 press conference, after showing off several of the titles coming to the system. Interestingly enough, no price was given for Kinect, so we'll continue to hem and haw over how much we'll pay for the ability to play Sonic the Hedgehog with our bodies.
E3 2010 Event Demos:

Previewed Games:

Dance Central - Take your moves to the next level!
Kinectimals - Make and keep some very wild friends on your very own exotic island.
Kinect Sports - You're up! Kick the ball, throw a javelin, bowl a frame. It's your turn to get in the game.
Kinect Joy Ride - Get ready for the ride of your life with this driving game.
Your Shape: Fitness Evolved - The experience is virtual, the sweat is real!
Kinect Adventures! - The game that is sure to get your heart pounding and challenge everyone.
Zumba Fitness - Join the party with a one-of-a-kind, dance fitness workout set to sexy, high-energy music!
Sonic Freeriders - Sonic arrives on Kinect with his signature speed in the fastest Kinect game available at launch!

A total of 15 games will be ready for launch in Nov 2010.

Looks very nice,

Bit worried about price though,

I reckon just above $500AUD
Probably $599 price point.

I don't think they want to increase the price any more than the PS3 costs.

The price will probably stay the same, and then they'll bundle in Natal for free and call it a pricedrop late this year.

It looks better at least compared to the current design..from what i can tell from the image so far.

At the moment i just hope they use the "leaked" motherboard design we saw a couple of months back to stop any RROD issues, and that they've worked on the noise the DVD drive makes.

Well it should be more cheaper than ever to make if they use the design leaked.

Will be a Day 1 purchase with natal for me

Kinect sounds like a boardroom committee name. "Hey guys, KINECT! Like, you CONNECT with your KIN! Can I have my cheque now?" I'd rather it be called Wave, or even better just keep it as Project Natal.

The redesigned box doesn't look too bad, and depending on the price and whether they have reduced the noise of the bloody thing I might pick one up. Hopefully with that huge vent on the side they have some quiet fans in there.

Yah the vents don't look good from a overall design perspective, but based on the design it should be directly where the GPU/CPU chip is...i hope they went back to the drawing board for the cooling design...plus other things as mentioned.

Personally i wouldn't mind if the xbox 360 emitted some green glow (apart from the ring). Even if they had an option in the dashboard to turn it on and off for those people who don't want such a visual show.

It looks like a bastard love-child between an original Xbox and a 360 Elite. But if it has the power-brick built in, doesn't break (Which you can be damn sure is what they've built this for), and is much quieter then count me in.
