Floyds are great at keeping guitars in tune. It's just a horror story to replace strings if you're a noob. IMO that's the whole problem. Floating bridges suck arse. EVH had the right idea; diving only and flat on the body. You can't go wrong. Except if you still break the string.

Well, depends how much tension you have on the springs A mate of mine runs his with enough juice to hold up with two snapped strings lol

Eh, what?

Snap a string with a floating floyd and the rest will go sharp unless it's already set against the body - it'll never go flat if a string breaks. If it's set against the body you won't have any issues.

Yeh i'm talking about a floyd that has been chocked with a piece of wood (fitted, and glued), and then reefed on with the springs.

q. How can you tell if you're in the 70's or the 80's?

a. If Pink Floyd rose, then you're in the 70's; on the other hand, if pink Floyd Rose...

Depends on your background (setup and maintenance of a Floyd is more of a mechanical skill than a musical one). There are certainly plenty of players who don't take well to them (or simply don't want them), which is perfectly valid and understandable.

Is there a main/good/popular brand of clip-on tuners? The ones that pick up the vibration of the headstock so you can tune up with a lot of background noise.. after one for my acoustic.

This is good.

Im in the split personality camp of absolutely hating to change strings on a FR guitar, and dread it more than doing housework, BUT when I actually do it I find its a relatively simple process in a step by step order that is quite painless once you get your system down.

FR's are a nightmare for beginners but now I can restring an FR in almost the same time as it takes to do a fixed bridge.

I just block the trem, remove the old strings, reverse string the new ones, clamp and snip, and violin, ready to rock.

You mean fret buzz, and if so, is it coming through amplified?

More than likely its on the heavier strings.

Look at the neck from down the headstock, which way does it bow?

If thats ok then raise the action and see if it goes away is the first thing to do. Minimal buzz is fine, but if it comes through the amp then theres an issue.

Yeah that's the one... I got locking tuners for my fixed bridge because even that was causing me frustration.
