Default GTX 465 SLI

Hey guys I was wondering if two GTX465's in SLI would be a good choice?

I want to go SLI but I can't afford 2 GTX470's.

OCAU gimme some insight please.

Thanks in advanced.

EDIT: Would there be any problems setting up SLI?

No not a good choice at all.
Just get a 480 and overclock it hard...
Even a 2nd hand 295 or 2 would be a better option in my books...
Can't sway you to ATI? Would be a MUCH better option...

SLI doesn't scale well still? (considering crossfire is not far off 1:1 scaling... (in certain cards))

Get a GTX 480 and keep your 260+ as dedicated physics.

OR

Get a 5870 and have your 260+ as dedicated CUDA+Physics

SLi scales VERY well on the 4 series. The 465 can in many/most cases be unlocked to the same number of cuda cores as the 470, however it still will have reduced bus/memory size which will be your moot point. But when OC'ed and unloced they perform very well indeed. You can work out your bang for buck from there..

As other have said, single 480 would be a better choice, or 5870

There are a few reviews that compare the 465 and unlocked 465 to these cards (5870/480/470)

Compro to 285

With OC - its not a bad choice, just look at the price to performance :P

Right so I won't be getting the GTX465's then.

I would go Ati but I don't know much about them. Had a 4870 and that wasn't the best experience.

I would happily reconsider Ati, is there much screwing around getting PhysX to work with Ati cards and my Nvidia card?

And if I don't get an Ati card my last option will be the GTX470.

Thanks OCAU

EDIT: I sort of think Nvidia has more/better support for games? I'm not sure if that is correct though.

I believe there are drivers nvidia accidentally released that allow an nvidia card to be used for physX.

I would recommend ati for this series, imo they have done better this time round and I have always preferred nvidia, look at my avatar
looking at a 5850/5870 myself with 8800gt physX

Don't let people on here lead you astray.. GTX465 SLi plus easy OC = Awesome performance which will blow away a GTX480 and roughly cost the same

http://www.overclock.net/nvidia/7471...our-cards.html

Another good thread... I am bout to RMA my 5870 so considering Sli 470, 465 or 5870 while I wait for my return so i can xfire.

I would stay ATi but i love my chance to play with things

Bang for buck, I actually think the 465 in SLi with a bit of an overclock is actually quite impressive....

Good for a cheap NV Surround platform.

Look ma I'm famous lol

Man gtx 465 sli is killer, as long as you had a board I would recommend it any day of the week

Also compared to gtx 480 and gtx 470 you could run surround gaming on a sli gtx 465 setup.

umm.. does your board support 2 PCI-E 16x???? might not to worth it if you cant get full speed. Better to just get a ATI 5970 and call it a day

Even if the second slot is at 8x its going to make minimal difference.
