Airport Poker, QLD Photo Oppertunity.

Its Bit short notice, But I figured If your not doing anything this coming saturday and wanted to get in a photo opp of light aircraft your more than free to join.

The back story.

My fathers a Private Pilot and Is taking part in a yearly flying poker game, essentially pilots from all over QLD fly to 1 of 5 designated airfields, these include.

-Bradfield
-Gatton Park
-Kilcoy
-Mc Carron's Field
-Watts Bridge

When they land at one of the specified airports, they pick up a sealed yellow envelope containing 3 playing cards, they then take their envelope back to Watts bridge memorial Airfield. uppon the arival of the last aircraft partaking in the event, organisers choose 2 playing cards at random and lay them on the table.

Pilots then open their sealed envelopes and lay down their cards, the person who can make the winning hand wins the 2010 trophy. I will be driving out from the sunshine coast to watts bridge airfield and Will take anyone who wants to come along for a day out.

What can you expect to see on the day.

In short.....AIRCRAFT. the event is not limited to what planes pilots can use that are able to land on the designated runways, therefore you will have to oppertunity to see all shapes and sizes of aircraft from gyrocopters, cesna 172's,182's, old BY planes, ultralight single seaters etc etc.

You will be able to get upclose to the planes and there will be alot of take off and landings which make for good subject matter, the watts bridge landing strip is grass over gravel, not asphalt. and all other airfields are the same or simmilar.

If anyones interested in tagging along lemme know, Meeting point will be maroochydore camerahouse carpark, I can take 4 people + gear. Planned leaving time will be sometime after the hand is played and trophy given, Ill be there taking shots for the sunshine coast aeroclub website.

Event will be subject to weather. obviously you wont be wanting to get your gear wet, though the main reason is most private pilots wont fly thought coulds/rain if they can avoid it.
