Well you need to modify the PS2 first before you can use the boot CD's.

Neo2.2 has been around for a while, thats with the swap method.
The NEO "GODS" are working on NEO4 which will let us
all play our backed up original discs without the swap tricks.

Have a look at http://www.playstationmods.com/
OZ distributor at http://www.ozchips.com.au/

More to the point ..... http://www.ozchips.com.au/neo4.html

ETA at this stage late August / early September.

Another good site is http://www.blade.cc/

I didn't say that, I wasn't here.

The NEO 4 sounds great. Thanks for that

I have rang up the guys here in sydney and they are saying that it will cost $300 installed to do a mod chip NEO 4 Which seems really steep.. but i guess there is that convinience of not having to swap anything out anymore

Currently i can get the Neo 2.2 for about $130 installed with the AR2..

what do you think is better ???.. maybe i should hold out for the NEO 4 ...

I have 9 original PS2 games so far, one of them I managed to scratch fairly bad. I had to "polish" it back to life.

For me even the "swap" trick with the action replay will probably
mean the eventual death of the AR CD.

So, I will wait a bit longer and fork out the $300 when NEO4
comes out.

But, yes, I agree that it is very steep.

However from what I have read, NEO4 is a huge modification with
multiple chips.

Best Wishes

Where can u get a neo and the ar 2 installed for 130??? they are approx $200 with a few places round the 180 mark.

When you think about it, the first wave of chips to come out for the ps were very expensive, the Neo 4 seems to be the best bet for ps2 chips, if u want constant info, check out our site, Ian is on there (ozchips) www.cdcopyworld.net

I for one will be getting a neo 4 when it comes out, im just happy i waited and didnt go with the ar2 option.

Well those modchips you guys are talking about are not even mod chips in my opinion.

I got a PS2 from HK, model 18000. Modd such that I can play 'copied' PS2 games, Original PS1 and 'Copied' PS1 ALL WITHOUT DISK CHANGE. But they way, the disk changes are PS1 crap. Watch ALL CODE DVD. All for about AU$700 at the time I got it, that was 6 months ago.

My mate has a boot disk that he says works fine.

Needed to remove the front cover on the DVD drive though.

Loads up boot disk. waits, flicks a latch to release DVD drive

Pops in backed up cd... works no probs. No patches needed. Said that SSX also works fine.

Limitation is that the backup cd has to be the same size as the boot disk (~640megs)

Still i would wait till the "does it all" chip comes out, much more convenient and safer.
