HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ Explorer\Shell Folders\Favorites (note US spelling or favourites)

Set this String Value to the location you want their favourites. At work, we have it set to a location on the H:\

If you have laptop users, and you are doing this to, when they are off the network, then this location will default to C:\WinNT\Favorites\ and you'll have to force run something when they login to the network to set it back to this

Yeah I know where the registry entry is.. I need to be able to edit its value on logon and hence probably via a batch file or some script.
Then I need to set it back to its default value on exit.

Why do you want to set the value back? Is it not the same for all users?

What are you using as your policy enforcer? Zenworks (Netware?) or pure MS?

You could have a 'call' command in your usrlogon.cmd to call a .cmd or .bat file which runs a regedit command to enforce the value.

Alternatively, you can use Group policys to assign logon and logoff scripts to change the value to chatever you want. How to configure those scripts or in what language they are written, don't ask me (actually ask me... I looked up Technet and....

"Scripts. You can use scripts to automate computer startup and shutdown and user logon and logoff. You can use any language supported by Windows Scripting Host. These include the Microsoft Visual BasicŪ development system, Scripting Edition (VBScript); JavaScript; PERL; and MS-DOSŪ-style batch files (.bat and .cmd)."

So you can run the batch file in the user assigned scripts and store those scripts on the server.

This sounds like a viable method to you?
