Default Made my own ghetto rounded cables

I just finished making my ghetto rounded cables.

they involved a knife, a cutting board, some standard ide ribbon cables and me

then all i did was cut every single individal cable and then right at the end every second one would be easier and quicker. oh well i learnt the hard way. when cutting i nearly cut a few cables and did cut the covering a few times and i just fixed that with some electical tape. and rapped the whole thing in electrical tape except the plugs of cause.

after doing this my case looks alot neater and it was a lot cheaper than buying rounded cables.

i did try cutting my IDE cables but i found it was safer and easyer to jsut Wrap Insulation tap tightly and wrap up the cables , ATA 66/100 cable bends into shape very easy anyway IMO

or not!!!!

i did my fdd/cd rom cables easy and these 133 cables are so thin!!!!!!, need a very sharp knife and steady hand, also you cant cut about 1cm then pull, you have to cut the whole way!

Just let them sit in the sun for awhile and then fold them lengthwise---no cutting neccessary and you can get them just as small---tape or use baby zipties afterwords...

You should try covering it in wiring loom.
Would look cool i reckon.

Nice work.

Where they ATA100 cables?

i just cut about 2cm and pulled to rip them apart they aren't that dodgy but they look better than the original ribbon cables. yeah i am getting some wiring loom soonish and by then i might be able to post some pics but i guess you get the idea. and yeah it took me like 40 minutes to cut my hdd cable which is a ata100.

yeah thats all i did, just cut the first few cm then pull them apart,
then i tied it together at each end then used electrical tape to wrap it altogether, looks just like the ones you buy,
very easy to do

cheers

I did mine in sets of 5 wires and put that into 8mm clear plastic tubing (not too sure what its called) but I slit the tubing and then put some electrical tape about every 10 cm after the cables were in, just fit too . looks realy good and neat,

I also did all my power cables with the same tubing,

Nick

i did the same thing, but without the knife. why risk cutting through insulation when you can use your thumbnail? maybe i have hard thumbnails, but i found i could poke a hole in the insulation, and then tear the whole way down. and yes, this is with ata100 cable.
