Default Android equiv of the Ipod touch?

Does such a thing exist, i have no need for a mobile phone as mine is work supplied but I wouldn't mind seeing what this android business is all about.

no such device exists outside of your usual obscure chinese mini-tablets

id say grab yourself a secondhand HTC hero or something and go nuts, just dont turn the phone part on. android phones make great media players, im playing mp3s off my desire right now
